No reader? No problem.
OffBook Studio is built by a working actor, not a tech company guessing at what actors need. Acting is about listening, responding, and timing, and that's exactly what most rehearsal apps get wrong.
Record your reader's lines once, then change the voice completely, not just a pitch shift. Rehearse against it as many times as you want, whenever an audition lands.
With OffBook Studio, you can:
- Choose a voice for your reader, or record your own and transform it completely
- Run lines naturally with cues that actually listen and wait for you
- Follow a built-in teleprompter that keeps pace with you, not a fixed scroll
- Rehearse anytime, anywhere
- Record professional self-tapes in one flow
HOW IT WORKS
1. Add your scene
Open your sides from Files, Mail, or wherever you got them. Tap share, choose OffBook Studio, and you're in.
2. Set up your reader
Choose a ready-made voice, or record the lines yourself and transform the voice completely, not just a pitch shift.
3. Rehearse on cue
The app listens and responds like a real reader. The built-in teleprompter follows your pace through scenes and monologues, so pauses and choices never get rushed.
4. Record your tape
Capture your take with camera and mic. No setup needed.
WHY ACTORS USE OFFBOOK STUDIO
- Built by an actor, for actors who take rehearsal seriously
- No more texting friends for help
- Stay in the scene, not in your phone
- Get more reps, faster
- Be ready when auditions come in
Built for real audition workflows, not practice toys.
For actors who self-tape, audition, and rehearse seriously.

更多 What’s New in 1.1.14
OffBook went back into rehearsal. Again.
At this point it may be developing notes of its own.
• Gallery playback behaves itself now. That extra little iOS “X” in the video player has officially learned some manners. Close your take either way and OffBook actually closes it — audio, playback, everything — without leaving the Gallery frozen backstage wondering what just happened.
• Even smoother video playback and closing. We shaved down the awkward little pause when leaving a take, because apparently there were still a few milliseconds hiding under the furniture.
• More reliable script and scene switching in Rehearse. OffBook is better at letting go of the last scene before starting the next one. A surprisingly useful skill for actors and software alike.
• More Listen & Respond tightening across Rehearse and Record, with continued work on recognition, handoffs, timing, and keeping your Reader ready to respond when you are.
• And, as always, a collection of fixes, cleanup, tuning, stability work, and backstage cable management nobody should ever have to think about while performing.
No giant shiny feature this time.
Just a more polished OffBook that closes when you tell it to, listens when it should, and generally causes less drama than the scene you’re rehearsing.
We’ll save the drama for the script.

What’s New in 1.1.13
OffBook has been spending a little more time in rehearsal. Apparently even the rehearsal app needs rehearsal.
• Faster, smoother Listen & Respond in Rehearse and Record, with more work under the hood to make your Reader feel less like software waiting for permission and more like a scene partner actually listening.
• A much smoother Gallery. Watching a take no longer sends you wandering back to the top afterward, and we got rid of that little blink when returning from playback. Your place is your place.
• More reliability and performance polish across recording, playback, recognition, and the assorted machinery backstage trying very hard not to trip over a cable.
• The usual collection of fixes, cleanup, tightening, tuning, and things nobody should ever have to think about while acting.
No new shiny button this time.
Just a quicker, smoother, better-behaved OffBook that stays out of the scene and lets you stay in it.
And yes—we’re still tuning. There are always a few more milliseconds hiding somewhere.

What’s New in 1.1.12
A little backstage work this time. The actors get the spotlight. The plumbing gets the wrench.
• More under-the-hood cleanup to keep OffBook running smoothly and reliably.
• Performance polish across the app, because nobody needs extra drama from the app while they’re trying to bring the drama.
• Better behind-the-scenes infrastructure to help us understand what’s working and keep improving OffBook where it actually counts.
• Plenty of small fixes, housekeeping, and general tightening of bolts.
No giant shiny button in this one. Just a better-behaved OffBook.
And we’re not done. We’re always tuning, fixing, and shaving off the little things between you and the work.

What’s New in 1.1.11
Record just got a whole lot quicker on the draw.
• Faster Listen & Respond in Record — OffBook can now catch certain short cues hundreds of milliseconds sooner, so your Reader can jump in faster when the moment is right.
• Smarter cueing under the hood: OffBook takes the fast lane when it’s confident, while keeping its trusted fallback ready when it’s not.
• Better resistance to awkward pauses, extra words, off-script chatter, and retries — because actors don’t always speak like robots.
• Stronger recovery through restarts, audio-route changes, AirPods, app interruptions, and moving between Rehearse and Record.
• Record is tougher under pressure, with improved camera, mic, Reader handoff, and take-saving stability.
• Plenty of under-the-hood cleanup and performance polish to keep everything running smoother.
And we’re not done. We’re always tuning OffBook to make Listen & Respond faster, more fluid, and a little more like rehearsing with a real scene partner.

What’s New in 1.1.10
OffBook just got scary fast.
• Reader responses in Rehearse are now over 90% faster, so your scene partner jumps in almost instantly.
• Phone call? Cute. OffBook now recovers your place and keeps the scene moving when you return.
• The mic stays ready between lines for smoother, more natural Listen & Respond.
• Faster, cleaner Reader handoffs with fewer awkward pauses.
• Better stability through long rehearsals, restarts, and interruptions.
• General performance improvements and extra polish—because the scene should be dramatic, not the app.

Rehearsals are faster and smoother, especially when using headphones, with quicker handoffs between reader lines and your responses.
Short scripts and PDFs now import correctly, even when a scene contains only a few lines.
Script editing is also more reliable. Valid one-line scenes are now preserved when editing multi-scene scripts, keeping your characters and reader audio correctly connected instead of showing a validation error.
1.1.6 7月24日
More reliable rehearsal sessions. Fixed an issue where a dropped mic connection could stall your scene mid-take, now shows a clear "Microphone interrupted. Tap Play to resume" instead of leaving you stuck. Cue detection is also more accurate around interruptions, no more false advances when your mic reconnects.
Script editing is more flexible: add a new line directly above or below any line when reviewing an imported script.
The built-in teleprompter keeps getting smoother for longer scenes and monologues.
Now available: an annual plan for actors who rehearse year-round.
