Sheridan Navigator is an innovative campus navigation application, meticulously crafted to serve the students of Sheridan College at its Brampton, Oakville, and Mississauga campuses. Our app is engineered to facilitate easy and accurate navigation across the vast college grounds, ensuring that students can find their way to various locations with ease and efficiency. Upon downloading Sheridan Navigator from the App Store, students are asked to allow the location services for our SheridanGO app to show them accurate route and their live location in thee campus and they are greeted with a streamlined registration process. By signing up with their email address and creating a password, students can swiftly gain access to the robust features of our app. Once registered, they can log in with their credentials to begin their seamless navigation experience. The user interface is designed with simplicity and ease of use in mind. The homepage acts as a central hub where students can select their current campus with just a simple click on the campus name. Utilizing live location tracking, the app accurately determines the user’s presence within one of the Sheridan campuses, ensuring that the navigation services provided are contextually relevant. In the event that a student is not located at the selected campus, the app is programmed to issue an immediate alert. This prompt informs the user of their status with a message tailored to the campus they have selected, such as "You are not in HMC campus right now." This feature ensures that students are aware of their location and can make informed decisions about their campus destination. Users can acknowledge the alert with a single tap and proceed to manually input their starting point and desired endpoint on campus. Once the 'start' and 'end' locations are entered, Sheridan Navigator leaps into action, displaying the quickest route available. This feature not only presents the fastest path but also provides valuable information such as the estimated time of arrival and the distance to the destination. This functionality is restricted to within campus locations to maintain focus on the immediate navigational needs of the student body. A key feature of our app is the integration with Firebase Realtime Database, ensuring all navigational data and user preferences are effectively managed in real-time. This integration offers a dynamic and responsive user experience, with changes and updates being seamlessly synchronized. Furthermore, for added convenience, when students select the correct campus, their start location is automatically filled in the relevant field, thus saving time and streamlining the process. They then simply need to enter their destination. Upon initiating the route with the 'start' button, the app promptly provides a map with the fastest route highlighted, along with estimated travel time and distance information. Sheridan Navigator invites students to engage with their campus environment confidently, offering a reliable and intuitive map to guide them to their desired locations. Our commitment to providing an essential campus tool is embodied in every aspect of the app, from security with Firebase Authentication to real-time updates for navigation, all designed to enhance the Sheridan College campus experience.
