Fixed some bugs with the ordering of dictionary results and changed the preconfigured dictionaries to just include JMdict and the BCCWJ frequency dictionary.

You can now import Yomitan-formatted dictionaries into the Shiori Reader app! Dictionary Import • Head over to the Dictionary Settings section to import most Yomitan-formatted dictionaries. Note: dictionaries with structured content are not supported. • Imported dictionaries are integrated with the dictionary popup, Anki export functionality, saved words section, and dictionary search section. • Modify the tag color or display order and adjust the dictionary display order directly from the Dictionary Settings section. Click on the dictionary in the list to view more details (e.g. type, author, import date, etc.) and change the tag color. Dictionary Popup • All dictionary entries will display the name of the dictionary (using a colored tag) above the associated entry. • New gestures to improve the experience of using imported dictionaries: - Tapping on the same line as the dictionary tag will collapse the associated definitions for that dictionary. - Long pressing anywhere on an entry (term/reading combination) will collapse the entire entry, including all definitions from all dictionaries. • Swipe left or right when the dictionary popup is displayed to cycle through adjacent characters in the character picker. This functionality can be toggled in the Reader Appearance settings section. Other QoL Fixes • Fixed an issue where the Word with Reading field for Anki export was not being properly generated for furigana display on the iOS/Mac Anki app. • Fixed an issue where all matching dictionary terms were not being properly displayed if a definition for JMdict was found. • Fixed an issue where frequency information was not displaying in the dictionary popup view (was only showing in the dictionary sliding card view). • Fixed an issue where clicking at the top of a scroll view would scroll all the way to the top. • Various performance improvements for dictionary lookups to accommodate for a larger number of dictionary queries (limited search query length, limited number of search query results, implemented concurrent dictionary lookups).

Fixed an issue where quickly paging away from and back to a chapter in a scroll view would forfeit the most recent reading progress.

Added a frequency dictionary alongside a few UI tweaks and bug fixes. Frequency Dictionary - Added the BCCWJ frequency dictionary (enabled by default) to display alongside definitions. It can be toggled in the Dictionary Settings menu UI Tweaks - Added a dictionary animation toggle and options to modify the animation speed to the Reader Appearance settings section - Added a configurable, optional popup display (as opposed to the default sliding card) for the dictionary that appears in the center of the screen, rather than the bottom half. This can be configured in the Reader Appearance settings - Modified the font size slider to use buttons, provide haptic feedback, and show relative font size with dots - Added a consistent frame size for all icons in the SettingsView Bug Fixes / QoL Updates - Modified Anki export handling logic to concatenate when multiple Shiori Reader fields are mapped to Anki fields. Previously, if multiple Shiori fields were mapped to a single Anki field, the last Shiori field would overwrite all others - Fixed an issue where the picker selection in the App Appearance settings wasn't correctly reflecting the selected preference

New Features - Pitch accent - Added pitch accent graphs to the popup dictionary and search view - Pitch accent graphs can be exported to Anki and their appearance can be customized in the Anki Settings section - Saved words will now contain pitch accent information - Monolingual Japanese dictionary - Added a built-in monolingual Japanese dictionary (旺文社国語辞典 第十一版) that can be toggled in the Dictionary Settings - Now, when exporting to Anki, a popup will be presented that asks you to specify which definitions you’d like to send (this behavior is turned on by default, but you can disable it in Anki Settings if you’d prefer) Improvements - Vastly improved tap recognition: previously, you had to click slightly to the left side of a character to search the correct character (otherwise, it would select the following character). Now, clicking anywhere on the character itself will display the definitions for that character (and the following text) - Refactored the built-in JMdict database to speed up lookups, improve formatting, and address issues with missing definitions and overly wordy definitions that contained unnecessary context - Improved the ordering of search results to prioritize longer words and exact matches first - Added a check to the dictionary popup view to inform you if you’ve previously saved a word: the bookmark button (used to save words) will be filled out if you have saved the same word before. You can choose to save this instance in addition to the original or delete the original saved word - Added line limits to the dictionary popup to reduce visual clutter with multiple dictionaries; tapping on a truncated line will expand the definition Bug Fixes - Fixed parsing issues with compound verbs and chained conjugations — the parsing algorithm should function much better now! - Fixed an issue where clicking out of a book and immediately clicking back in would not reload the most recently saved progress - Fixed an issue where the Word With Reading field was not being sent to Anki - Fixed an issue where duplicate dictionary entries would appear on word search - Fixed an issue where the character picker (in the dictionary popup) wasn’t displaying characters with furigana or the characters around them correctly Other - Removed the search button in the reader for now — it wasn’t functioning properly, and the ability to search for specific text within a book is not a priority as of now - Added a section to report issues to my GitHub Issues page

This update brings a few quality-of-life changes, helping to enhance the base reading experience. Dictionary Popup - The dictionary popup now contains a context menu showing the two characters both immediately preceding and following the selected character. These characters can be clicked to alter the text selection being sent to the dictionary, allowing for easy navigation between characters on a line e.g. when you misclick a character. - Clicking outside of the dictionary popup now immediately dismisses the dictionary. - If a word is not found in the dictionary, the dictionary will still appear, indicating "No definition found". Custom Themes - You can now save custom themes to be used between multiple different books. No need to manually reapply custom themes between books!

- Updated minimum required iOS version to 17.0 - Fixed a color selection issue that could cause crashes when using custom themes

Updated the order of App Store screenshots to better reflect the user flow within the app. No changes to app functionality.
