Dominate the world. One blob at a time.
World domination isn't a very fashionable ambition these days, but that doesn't mean you can't pretend. Strategery is a battle between your pegs and the green, orange, blue, and red blobs that dare to stand in your way.
It's also a little bit of App Store history. Strategery first launched in 2008, back when the App Store was barely a few months old. Macworld named it the Best Strategy Game of 2009. Slate called it their latest iPhone gaming habit. Daring Fireball said the gameplay had a great feel. And a Macworld reviewer named Lex Friedman wrote that there was no game he played on his iPhone more.
That reviewer now makes Strategery. Life is funny.
HOW IT'S PLAYED
The world is made of blobs. Every blob holds pegs — your pegs, ideally. Pick a blob you own, point at a neighboring blob you don't, and roll. More pegs, better odds. Win the roll and the blob changes color. Lose it and, well, you still have your other blobs.
Keep going until the whole map is your color and everyone else is looking for the rematch button.
Your turn, your dice, your questionable decisions
Bigger stacks of pegs win more rolls. Usually.
Every blob you hold earns you more pegs
Last color standing dominates the world. Politely.
THREE WAYS TO CONQUER
Solo: Play against the computer. It has no friends, no feelings, and no plans this evening. It will happily lose to you all night. (Or not. You choose how clever it gets to be.)
Online: Play against your friends. Take turns from wherever you are. A push notification lets you know when it's your move, or when someone has done something regrettable to your blobs.
Pass and play: One phone, one couch, several rivals. Hand it over, let them try, and try not to gloat.
CLASSIC OR CHAOS
Classic is the game you remember: dice, blobs, and your own poor judgment. Chaos adds starred blobs. Capture one and the wheel spins. Your conquest has consequences.
Either way, you pick how much world there is to dominate.
A WAR WITH NO CASUALTIES
Blobs don't bleed. Pegs don't feel pain. Nothing explodes, nobody gets hurt, and the only thing that ever gets conquered is a colorful shape on a map. Somebody's pride may be wounded when you take their last blob, but that's between the two of you.
For iPhone and iPad. Contains no violence, several dice, a healthy number of blobs, and a reasonable amount of whimsy.
Strategery was originally designed by Sumul Shah, Courtland Idstrom, and Peter Ju. This version comes from Lex Friedman, who is one person and would be delighted by a rating or review.
It's not strategy. It's Strategery.
更多 If you used Strategery's helpful tool to automatically place the replacement pegs you didn't want to place manually, you could choose what approach it used. The problem was, Strategery didn't remember that choice... It just kept defaulting to the same one. Now, Strategery remembers.
Also: You can replay a map if you think you could achieve a better outcome if you had the chance. But replays weren't putting every country back where it started. That was a mistake. It's fixed now.

Some folks love animated lakes. Some folks love still lakes. And some folks don't want visible lakes at all. This update lets you choose in Settings. Just call me "Lakes" Friedman.
This update also includes a fix for computer opponents, so that they don't weirdly start allocating resources without ever attacking in certain near-stalemate scenarios.

Play classic "Legacy" Strategery more easily.
Many of you love the updates to Strategery. I'm grateful!
Many of you also don't love the changes. I understand. You can tap and hold on the Strategery logo for a couple seconds to launch the classic version. And if you prefer to play that classic version every time, that's no problem: Turn on a new Setting at the bottom of the Settings screen to do exactly that.
This update also fixes a bug affecting users who enable Display Zoom on their devices.

Some users with larger font sizes enabled on their devices are still seeing some odd animations. This update attempts to relieve some of that jitter bug.

A veritable slew of fixes!
1. You can now reset your stats, if you’d like to start your win/loss history anew.
2. Improvements to power consumption for large-screen devices that leave water animation on. Now that animation’s impact to battery life is minimal.
3. Better handling of landscape orientation on iPads, in both the regular game and the legacy version. (Remember, you can access legacy Strategery by tapping and holding on the Strategery logo for five seconds on the main menu.)
4. Some visual improvements. Among them: Removing the jittery dance affecting devices with larger font sizes enabled, and a better behaving tiled background.
4.8 9月18日
Improvements to coloration when you are placing peg reinforcements.

The game's main menu has a face lift. It's both more reminiscent of the original Strategery and easier to understand — which isn't a coincidence!
And by the way, in the game's main Settings (at the gear icon at the top right), you can enable a few visual settings to make new Strategery look even more like old Strategery.
4.6 9月17日
I'm continuing to work on Strategery's look and feel, and this release gives those blobs an extra layer of polish to make them look even nicer. They're very handsome.
Meanwhile, the app hides an Easter egg for original players of the game. Tap and hold on the Strategery logo for five seconds on the main menu.
4.5 9月17日
Continuing to tackle the biggest feature requests!
1: More beautiful maps. They're great.
2: New Settings option to use Classic Colors from the original game.
3: VoiceOver support throughout.
Enjoy!

Easier peg reinforcements!
Some of you missed the classic Strategery setting of automatically placing your pegs across the perimeter of your owned blobs. You could already enable automatic peg placement from the Fiddly Little Bits section, but now you can both choose Perimeter as an option, AND choose to automagically distribute your pegs at the end of any turn.
If none of this makes sense to you, fret not: These are features for folks who need them, and they won't get in your way if you don't.

Hot on the heels of the 4.0 upgrade—which gave Strategic its first major overhaul in years, introduced Chaos Mode, and reintroduced online multiplayer—comes the update the pegs didn’t want you to see: the bug-fix update.
This release includes fixes for maps in certain situations, fine-tuning of some under-the-hood stuff, and other bug fixes and improvements.
May the blobs be ever in your favor.

Rebuilt from the ground up for modern versions of iOS.
The same great Strategery game you know and love, with an updated look and feel, restored multiplayer, and a brand new Chaos Mode: Conquer certain regions, and you'll spin the roulette wheel of the Chaos of War, which might trigger new land masses, redrawn borders, new pegs, or even traitors.
