Boo stands out among other dating apps, because it is rather a social media platform with a possibility of using it also as a dating app, exclusively or additionally. One of the coolest features is interests: each of them is a space where people can post, discuss, bond, you name it. Examples are memes, fitness, travels, the list is long. My experience shows that people tend to be civil and respectful on Boo. One can craft a detailed profile reflecting individuality. I have already found some buddies on Boo and might as well find a significant other: fingers crossed.

Mostly good, but slimy business tactics

This app is great for many things, but recently I’ve noticed that I am almost never being shown people in the city which I live until *coincidentally* I’m out of likes.Oddly enough, rejecting profiles counts towards your “likes count”. So, after rejecting many profiles located in different countries, as soon as I’m shown someone in my city, I’m out of likes. This pattern has gone on for a couple weeks now.I think it’s a recent algorithm change, and it’s not smart or subtle on the developer’s part. It’s a very obvious and slimy way to try to manipulate people into paying for their premium features. Very common for these apps not to incentivize you to pay for premium by making the app better, but by making the app so bad and borderline unusable that you feel forced to either pay for premium or get rid of the app altogether.

Interesting Algorithms

The algorithms of this app are really fascinating. As soon as I purchased a subscription, not a single girl liked my profile for an entire week. This app (let’s put it in context—it’s a dating app, like Tinder) seems to be designed just to get users to set up an account, pay for a subscription, and… that’s it. It feels more like a service for collecting payments rather than actually helping people connect.

I love the design and how much love there is in the app. My biggest issues:— 5 coins for sometimes 30+ second AD— Limit on how many people u swipe a day which leads to soooo many dead accounts and it’s just useless swiping (I bought infinity)— I bought infinity and can’t see if the person was online… why?? Why do I pay 500 coins, individually, and it works only for a WEEK??— Button to go back if u swiped someone, I have to click THREE times to go back instead of one, that really was a horrible experience.Using it for almost a year, almost never get a match (and I am not ugly, I am even 6’5) and yet ZERO matches, even with new accounts, when I send them a text — they never even look at it. Probably just deleted the app at that point, because it limits u on how much u can swipe.I gave almost 1000 likes and wrote to over 700 girls, got only 21 matches, where girls just ignore most of the times 👍 I believe this app would jump to 5 stars if they JUST didn’t limit the daily swipe for free users, which would NOT lead to 99% of the accounts being dead.
