Great app got less user-friendly with the latest update

The app is fantastic, and I've been using it every day for years. However, the recent update to the interface made me want to share my thoughts :) So now I have to hide the keyboard every time I want to see alternative translations? This feels like an unnecessary extra step since there's enough space to show that section even with the keyboard open. I want to point out that each extra tap is very frustrating in a translation app because you usually want to see results quickly. Also, the space around the language selectors at the bottom seems excessive; at least one more line of text could fit there.

Deepl is an outstanding machine translation tool that is deservedly considered one of the best in its field. However, it has some limitations that are worth noting. In particular, when translating narratives, Deepl sometimes fails to recognize the perspective from which the story is being told, leading to distortions in meaning. For example, actions can be mistakenly attributed to the wrong character, which completely alters the perception of the text. Additionally, the model sometimes fails to distinguish the gender of characters, which is especially noticeable in texts with rich narrative structures or multiple characters. These shortcomings can significantly affect the quality of the translation, particularly in fiction or complex stories.Despite this, Deepl remains a powerful tool, and such issues are not unique to it—they are also found in other machine translation systems. Nevertheless, given Deepl’s high reputation, users expect greater accuracy from it. I would recommend being cautious when working with texts where context and details are crucial, and possibly checking the translation manually or with additional tools. Developers should focus on improving the algorithms, especially in terms of analyzing narrative perspective and determining gender, to make Deepl even more reliable.

Hi there, I’ve been using DeepL for around 3 years already, both web and mobile apps. Everything is good so far, really high quality for different sentence lengths, however, there is still one thing that pushes me to use Google Translate: lack of Ukrainian language. I don’t really want to make translations on any other language I know and then translate them by myself to Ukrainian, so I’d better use Google Translate in this cases. So this could be a great opportunity to you guys to increase a customer loyalty by adding a Ukrainian language :)
