How to learn languages on Tandem:
1. Select the language(s) you want to learn in the app
2. Tell us about your language learning goals and your ideal Tandem partner
3. Search for native speakers of your target language in the community
4. Kick-off your language exchange experience by sending your first message
5. Share topics with the Tandem community so you can have meaningful conversations about what interests you
6. Keep up the conversation with your new Tandem “pen pal” and speak like a native in no time!
While many features are free, you can choose to subscribe to Tandem Pro to access all the features on the app. Your subscription will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current payment period. Your iTunes account will be automatically charged at the same price for renewal within the 24-hour period prior to the end of the current payment period unless you change your subscription preferences in your Account Settings.

- Location information: Required to use the Nearby feature to see members near you, the Travel feature to show members around the world and to add an approximate location to your profile.
- Microphone: Required for sending audio messages, making audio and video calls, and joining Language Parties.
- Camera: Required for taking photos to upload to your profile or post in a Language Club, take and send a photo in a chat, video calling, and scanning QR codes.
- Notifications: Used to send you notifications about acceptance into the community, new messages, new followers and their posts, new references and marketing communication.
- Nearby devices: Bluetooth access is required to connect audio devices during a call or Language Party.
You can still use Tandem without granting optional permissions, except features where their nature requires the respective permission, like a video call requiring camera permission.

First of all splendid app,the best at the kind,but need improvement 1.when you in the party you should add more options,sometimes you have a glitch with micro or can speak so chat inside the party will be great!must have!2.you should add for creator of the room to choose how many people can join the party for example: 2 or 6 or unlimited,the same with listeners3.please increase more reaction not only heart and raise up,I mean add something like laughs,question,angy and e.t.c4.please append donations for people ,so people can donate for a coffee for other people who are good as hosts or add up the system off likes

Initially drawn to this app for its promising language exchange opportunities, I find myself compelled to share a constructive perspective. The concept of connecting with speakers of other languages is innovative and has the potential to foster genuine linguistic growth. However, my experience has been marred by an unexpected challenge. It appears that a significant portion of the user base misconstrues the app's purpose, treating it as a platform for romantic or personal connections rather than for educational exchange. This misalignment not only detracts from the learning experience but also introduces an uncomfortable dynamic for those genuinely interested in language improvement. Disturbingly, when attempts to redirect conversations back to language learning are made, they are not always well-received. In some cases, these interactions have led to unwarranted reports, resulting in punitive actions against the wrong party. I believe that addressing this issue directly through stricter guidelines and moderation could greatly enhance the app's environment, making it safer and more conducive to its intended educational purpose. Such measures would ensure that the focus remains squarely on language learning, benefitting all users who are serious about enhancing their linguistic skills O wouldn’t recommend this app to anyone.

This is a place where you can find someone truly interested in language learning, as well as those who got their letters mixed up and installed Tandem instead of Pure. It’s hilarious! As I used the app, my perspective kept shifting. I’ve found a few genuinely great conversation partners and even met up with them in person. One guy invited me to join their "speaking club," which provided real-world practice and introduced me to wonderful people. All in all, if you have the time to filter through people, it’s a perfectly good place to find a mentor and a friend. However, I got the impression that more than half of the users aren't here for the languages :) Just my personal experience. I’d give it 5 stars for those amazing interlocutors, but for those who "mistook" it for a dating app...
