《注音獸》利用「積木式」的組合設計，把一張張的卡牌，視為一塊塊的積木，例如聲符和韻符，讓幼童發現，積木和積木之間，可以找到相關性，卡牌和卡牌，可能組合變成注音，這樣的發現式學習，能夠帶給幼童更多的樂趣、自信和擁有感。 另外還加入遊戲化設計，包括：（1）外觀角色化：每個注音符號的外型，都是一隻可愛的小怪獸。（2）學習互動化：以多元的活動形式，例如翻牌配對、冒險打怪、擂臺競技等，促進同儕互動。（3）檢核自動化：只要把兩張卡牌上下並列，就可以判斷結果的「門牙式」檢核法。
