This app has been helpful in my training to get from intermediate to higher levels of difficulty. I love how you can place candidates automatically and how they highlight so you can see patterns. My only complaint is that with more difficult puzzles, they include many with multiple solutions. This is not classic sudoku. In sudoku, every puzzle should have exactly one and only one solution. By including these extra puzzles it makes it very difficult to learn the more difficult patterns because you try hard to find the next more for a long time before asking for solution help, only to find there are 22 solutions. Still overall it’s helped me to locate patterns much easier. Please consider eliminating these puzzles with multiple solutions. Thank you very much!

The interface is excellent, very easy to use and has a nice-looking dark mode. I'm generally decent at Sudoku and this game's Medium level is brutal, Hard is impossible, and I haven't even tried Expert. The Easy level is not challenging in the slightest and takes less than 4 mins to fill in, but the next level up, Medium, takes upwards of 30-50 mins to solve and is extremely difficult. There are too many numbers removed and I always end up getting stuck or having to guess and then backtrack when it's wrong. Usually I'm able to solve difficult level sudokus without any guessing. I wish there were more steps in between the two difficulty levels of Easy and Medium so it wasn't so frustrating to play. I don't know if I'll be able to keep playing, I want to improve but there comes a point when it's not about any deduction skills, just luck, and I'm not interested in playing like that.

This app technically functions as it should. But almost every single game I make a mistake by accidentally making a final selection rather than just a note, which immediately counts something as correct or an error. It would bother me even more if I were concerned about making no mistakes. Adding notes should be on a toggle so that you can’t enter a final number without changing settings. .It’s also difficult to navigate a fully notated grid. Something I’ve come to appreciate about the Sudoku game on the Times app is that it allows you to transition views between personal notes and what the system automatically determines possible for empty squares for comparison. It doesn’t have to be the same thing, but perhaps some kind of manual notation system for grouping or saving notes on certain squares to avoid accidentally modifying them.

It works. It has no ads but some basic functions are restricted unless you pay for it. Such paid additions include tutorial videos for “advanced” techniques that are really basic anywhere else, the ability to find hints, see the solution, or even mute the sound. The last one is the reason I deleted the app. Even when the phone is muted it still plays an annoying sound when entering a number. So there is no silent mode, just a less loud one. If you don’t mind paying $10 or $50, I’m sure you can get an experience that is close to 80% of every other sudoku app but with no ads. Overall, I liked the Apple Arcade one better, but the arcade monthly fee isn’t worth it for just the 2 games I played.
