The worst app I have ever seen

If you’re a Windows user, ignore this, it’ll probably work for you.
If you’re a Mac user, as I am, you’ll be disappointed—though probably not surprised—to learn that despite the bank promoting how easy and simple this app is for foreigners, it’s really just another clumsy banking app that leaves Mac users behinds.
To set it up you need, like most things in Korea, a digital certificate, which can be issued from inside a Shinhan Branch. While archaic and annoying, it’s part of the system. So if you’ve got your Digital Certificate and downloaded this app, the next step is to copy the digital certificate to the app.
But you can only do it via a PC.
And only through the Shinhan website.
So, what could be as simple as uploading the digital certificate via iTunes is handled in a way that relies upon Active-X and a bunch of downloads that Mac simply don’t work for anyone running OX X, or an OS of the non-Windows variety.

The customer solution is this: use a PC, or don’t use this app. While not surprising, it is disappointing that at the end of 2014 a major bank is still using such clumsy and non-standard ways to handle its customers experience… or rather leave some of them in the dark.

As for the app itself, it looks great. Perhaps one day Mac users will be able to use it.

As of Jan 13th I managed to get this app working on my iPhone by following the (very confusing and often contradictory) instructions on Shinhan’s website.

My review stands at one star.
-This is an incredibly poorly designed banking app.
-The display UI/UX is atrocious.
-Using the app is an experience somewhere between clicking hyperlinks and managing to smash icons far too small for the screen.
-The color scheme is overwhelmingly blue and white.
-The absurdly clunky keyboard the app insists on making the user use is awful.
-Whoever designed this App needs a lesson in UI. It takes a phenomenal lack of eye for design to create such a thing as this.

I really want to find a good Korean banking app, I really do! But this isn’t it. Go back to the drawing board Shinhan. Going to an ATM is easier on the eyes than this.
