Truly indispensable!

I’ve been using Contacts Sync for so many years I don’t remember when I started. But I do remember what a mess it was before Contacts Sync to keep my Apple Contacts in sync with my Gmail account. Not to mention it was impossible to sync and use Google Contacts Groups with Apple Mail.

The other very important benefit to using a truly necessary utility is having access to the developer when a problem occurs or you fail to understand something the app is doing…or not doing. This app’s developer is very transparent, and in all these years whenever I had a question he was always there for me. I just realized this weekend how important that was when I had a small issue of forgetting how to do something and emailed him late Friday evening. I expected a reply on Monday, which would have been just fine, but he replied in only a few minutes. How many developers do this? I’m guessing not many.

Whenever I get a new iPhone, this is one of the first apps I install…I couldn’t live without it. I sincerely appreciate the developer’s commitment to keeping it updated and providing users with one of the most useful apps in the App Store.

I wish I had found this app 3 days ago

This app took a thorn out of my side. I spent at least 25 hours over 3 days trying to transfer my 1,800 contacts from Google over to iCloud. (Google Contacts is just not a good match with the contacts app on iPhone, but that is a long story.) This app worked perfectly for the first 40 free contacts. I then immediately bought a lifetime subscription. The app proceeded to transfer the remaining contacts perfectly with the Google labels correctly transferred into iCloud lists. This is huge for me.

One thing, the app said there were duplicate contacts, but Google could not find any. And I am not manually going through 1,800 contacts. A feature that merges the found duplicates would be convenient, but leave that feature out if that would cause bugs.

An app I’ve come to depend on

Sometimes you just need an app to do one thing well. In the case of Contacts Sync, the name says it all. It seamlessly updates all the contact changes you’ve made on any device and makes sure all your other devices have the same info. For reasons I can’t fathom iCloud does a pretty poor job of this.

My only complaint is that although I have it set for auto-sync, it will sometimes stop syncing for no reason I can discern (and, yes, I’m aware it needs to be running as a background app in order for the sync to take place). Sometimes I don’t notice the syncing has stopped until I go try to find a contact that I *know* I put in, and it is missing from one of my devices. To be fair, Contact Sync will notify you when auto-sync has not occurred for a while, but I still don’t understand why it stops in the first place.

Other than that little nit-picky thing, I really love the app and have come to rely on it.
