I just shelled out $30 for this app yesterday to basically see how the effects worked and what customizations there were for editing. First, I haven’t made it successfully through a single test recording because it freezes/crashes immediately upon setting a noise gate, which is the only effect I use every time I record. But then there doesn’t seem to be any way to easily save or organize clips for using them later outside of leaving them in a non-customizable, flat list with every other piece of audio. No folders, tags, ability to separate generic clips or sound effects from recordings, etc. I don’t see how I’m going to edit my intro, and then have it able to quickly drop into my episode recordings if I have no way to actually separate the files themselves. Having to sort through sound effects and full episodes in the same list seems terrible. I also felt like the change from the free to the $30 version had very little to show for it. I’m sure (at least I’m hoping) that there is a little more that maybe I’m simply not finding or don’t know how to utilize. But right now, despite my initial excitement over being recommended this, I don’t see how I could ever depend on this as my main podcasting software. In fact right now because of it crashing (brand new iPad Pro, second app installed on it) I cant do much of anything with it. But even if it was working I’d be a bit underwhelmed. Really disappointed, confused by the rating, and honestly want my money back.
Hello! I'm sorry to hear you've encountered a crash while using the app. I am a bit confused that you haven't made it through a single test recording due to the noise gate, because this app doesn't have a noise gate feature during recording. (You can create an editing project, and apply a noise gate to individual tracks, but that only comes later, after a recording is completed.) But regardless of the reason for the crash, if you can get in touch via the Contact Customer Support link inside the app, we can investigate that for you and hopefully find a solution.Regarding tags, Ferrite has full tagging support. If you select an audio file or project in the Library and tap the "(i)" Info button, you can add tags to it. Once you have tagged at least one item, a tag button appears in the search box, which you can use to search/filter items using tags. If you open the Tools menu and select "User Guide", you'll find details on this in Chapter 20, "Tagging". (The User Guide also highlights features with a small "banner" if they are part of the paid version — there are far too many to list here). Hope that helps!
