The effect is cool; however, an alert pops up after 1 minute asking if you want to remove ads for 1.99. The alert covers the flame effect, ruining it completely. When you choose NO, it turns off the flame effect and plays a video ad. Deleted.

Use it to read Walt Whitman’s “Song of the Open Road” while dozing in your backpacking tent under the moon shadows of Jeffrey Pines. I’m surprised this is the only candle app that simulates the glow, flicker, and movement of the flame of a candle. If I could make feature requests I’d ask for a version where you can make the background light up too and follow the flicker pattern of the circle, that way it could be a little brighter while still maintaining the movement of the flame. Maybe make it so the volume buttons up and down affect the overall brightness. I appreciate the simplicity of the app, its simple name and icon, lack of complex features, simple graphical appearance. Candles are simple. The app is simple.

When you turn your brightness up all the way, it works really well! For how convenient this app is in lighting the room with an instant candle light, and the fact that there isn’t really anything else out there like it, it is definitely worth a simple $2. I’ve looked through lots of other apps and I didn’t find anything that made the room light up with an orange flicker the way this app does. Other than the add that pops up 60 seconds, it’s exactly what I was looking for. I don’t mind the add though because it gave me the chance to try it and see if this was really what I was looking for before I bought it. All in all, I found it simple but clever :)

I was looking for something like this in the App Store and had no idea that it actually would exist, and it’s so well done to very beautiful simple and clean and most importantly, with a very realistic candle flicker effect. Facing your phone on a high shelf in a darkish room is best cause (obviously) seeing the screen ruins the effect.
