This port is okay…but it’s missing message moving, nor does it badge the number of notifications, making it near-useless. Furthermore, when you read a message, the notifications don’t clear, and when selecting a topic, instead of showing a list of topics, it shows a mishmash of different topics. I used to use the website in Safari, but this isn’t much better. Please fix this app.

We just started using Zulip at the company because of the threads feature. Running a self-hosted version. This solution is fantastic because it forces users to use topics so keeps messages organized. If working with remote teams who cannot respond in real time this makes a big difference. The iOS app works well too with mobile notifications and easy filtering to see either all or only new messages or only messages in a specific stream (channel) or topic ( thread). If using any paid chat solution where you pay by user, think again. This is open source, we run it on a $10/month instance with a cloud provider.

Ever since they redesigned the app, I get each notification twice. How did they miss that in beta testing it…

Hi Joshua, we are aware of duplicated notifications received by some iOS users in the first couple weeks after we replaced the old app with the rebuilt app in the App Store. We released a fix for this in v30.0.260 (2025-07-03) and hopefully you are no longer experiencing Issues!

Ability to upload files is not consistent

Update Sept 2021: why are the media upload options still not working? No one is even asking for a polished design or anything. They’re willing to have a duct-taped together app that lets you view the forums. Still can’t upload a PDF on the app. ——Sometimes the buttons to upload files (paperclip, iOS file system etc.) show up. Other times it only shows photo and camera access. When it did show up, it was when the reply to comment button showed up beside the text box, which only intermittently appears even if you have tapped on a comment. If you long press the comment, reply is an option, but the file attachment is only photos. I managed to get a PDF to start uploading, but the keyboard was then pushed off the screen, so I couldn’t hit enter to post it. There may be a related issue to handling landscape to portrait while composing.
