Al-Mizan fi Tafsir al-Quran, widely known as Tafsir al-Mizan, is one of the most comprehensive and detailed Shia commentaries on the Holy Quran written in Arabic. It was authored in the 14th century AH by Sayyid Muhammad Husayn Tabatabai (1903–1981).
Al-Mizan is a sequential (verse-by-verse) commentary. Its primary method is interpreting the Quran by the Quran — explaining verses through other related verses. The scholarly integrity, precision, and depth of this tafsir have earned it recognition among both Shia and Sunni scholars, making it one of the most respected and authoritative sources for understanding and researching the Quran.
