Best free thai learning resource

I have been working in Thailand for over seven years. However, I never took the time to learn how to read Thai. Now that I have a little time to study, I downloaded a bunch of free apps to try them out. Most free apps, and even some of the ones you buy, are not very helpful, or not even accurate. But I was thoroughly impressed with this one. It does a beautiful job of describing the limitations that english phonetics pose for accurately defining the Thai sounds, and makes thorough work of making sure you understand what makes Thai reading unique.

Squishculls
This app succinctly explains the nitty gritty details of the rules around the Thai characters which is exactly what I’ve been looking for. The app also has notepad capability where you can draw them as notes and they disappear so you can get them right over time. My favorite app thank you so much for making this.

Awesome…. But where is the rest of the content? It seams like I have a demo version and there’s no option to upgrade the full version. I hope the developer can chime in. The way everything is explained is very approachable. I would pay for this app if it were complete.

Hi Nick, appreciate the review, and sure I will chime in. Is there any specific content you feel is missing? I do have some (very slow moving) plans to add a bit more into the app, such as the numbers and some more special characters. But the main goal has always been focused on the basics of reading the alphabet itself, which thankfully for learners is, in fact, is not a huge scope!

an absolutely phenomenal app. I don't know how I would have learned Thai without this. so remarkably helpful. very in depth and informative. I am beyond grateful for this app and the knowledge it has given me. I cannot wait to see if more gets added. I would 100% recommend this app if you want to learn Thai
