Muckross Quest is a fun learning app, which enables children to virtually explore the rooms of Muckross House. This Victorian mansion is situated on the shores of the world-famous Lakes of Killarney and hosted a visit of Queen Victoria in August 1861. The children complete several tasks while virtually visiting Muckross House. They are assisted by a number of animated characters including: Herbie Herbert the Muckross Dragon, the owner Henry Arthur Herbert, Queen Victoria and the Victorian cook. These characters impart some historical details of Muckross House and of Killarney, particularly in relation to the visit of Queen Victoria in 1861. Children are encouraged to consider the impact of the royal visit upon Killarney’s long-standing tourism industry. Upon completion of the Quest the children can download a certificate.
