This app (and equally so the accompanying podcast, Passing the Counseling NCE Exam) helped me refresh, learn, and practice to pass the NCE. The NCE has 400 questions in two 200 question blocks. If you string a bunch of these practice exams togethers, it can help practice sitting and doing question after question after question when you’re sitting for the official one. I really like how this app gamified the studying process. The little badges to earn were fun. I also appreciated the “learn” mode with concise explanations of the correct answer. It gave me a place to explore/review when I didn’t understand other options or terms. I don’t think it’s enough on its own, but this and the podcast is how I did almost all of my studying.

Predatory and manipulative advertising

EDIT: If I could give fewer stars for the abusive response comment, I would. Future counselors and therapists of any quality will hopefully recognize the manipulation tactics and find support elsewhere. Not once did I state that I was under the impression this is for the CECE, only that I was using it as a tool for that prep; they victim-blame instead and try to turn it around on me. Super cool story guys, still abusive tactics. Zero stars. Oh, and don’t tell people how to leave reviews. That’s business 101 cues that you are trying to skew your feed.The app description gives a cutesy but manipulative little throwaway that I missed in my search for a CECE exam study app. “Free trial before committing because we know you’re not into toxic relationships.” Hmm…. Perhaps don’t be toxic from the start. Maybe I need to freshen up on noticing red flags🚩with good ole’ fashion notes cramming instead. This is predatory and depends on stressed out testers coming here for quick help. Don’t sink your money, folks. Read the rest of the 1-star reviews first. Just glad I read them before paying for the monthly cram thing… 🙄

I graduated two years ago and failed my first and second attempt by one point each time. I used this app for the first time in July, along with another study aid. This app had more and different questions on it, which challenged me. I passed my exam on July 26th by seven points. I highly recommend this app. The only thing I would recommend is allowing the usage of the app on multiple devices. Luckily I downloaded it to my tablet, which is what is mainly use when I study. It would have been nice to use it on my cell phone as well.

Okay but missing multiple things

It’s great to just sit and take test for studying. In that aspect, it’s perfect. However, the functionality of the app is pretty poor. First off, there is no multidevice congruency. My subscription covers both iPad and cellphone apps but when I get on my iPad to study, it doesn’t have the same saved notes and previously missed questions that I would like to see from my cellphone. Secondly, there is no notification option. I would like to set a schedule of notifications that remind me throughout the day to pause and take a short quiz. You can just set alarms on your phone but it would be nice to have the app itself alert you and be ready when you click the notification. Third, other than clicking a quiz and rolling with it, there’s no other options for how to study or timed sessions. Like others, I study best when I use the pomodoro technique. If this app is being used for studying purposes, why not integrate one of the most popular ways of doing it? Let us set timers and notifications. Then this app would easily be five stars. As is, it’s just lacks some of the major functions I would expect from this type of app.

For this to work, you would need to create a full profile (including email, passwords, username, etc.). We believe the ease of not having to create that outweighs shared analytics. Finally, we would love to hear more about your idea of studying with timers. We currently use a question based goal method, but understand wanting a timed based method as well. Once again, we'd love to hear from you to explore this idea further. And thank you for taking the time to help us improve.
