Use our curated list of recipe sites to inspire ideas for dinner, then create a shopping list, and keep it all ticking with a stylish kitchen timer on your Lock Screen.
Everything you love about The Recipe Box has been lovingly frosted with swirls of vanilla mirror glaze and dark chocolate ganache, making every pixel glisten. The joy of cooking with our app is infectious, bringing smiles and delight to host and guest alike. We curated every mint sprig and dollop of raspberry purée to add elegant simplicity to the virtual plate. We hope you enjoy the scrumptious the new look, and of course we are tickled about our cheerful kitchen timer. It slices; it dices.
Ok, enough hyperbole (we're really excited!!). Our new timer feature will start a countdown with a tap on the recipe step. Control it from within the app, or from your iPad's home screen. Switch between recipe timers with ease. We've been setting off timers just to listen to the chime.
Import recipes from the web (it's addictive!) - with expanded external browser support. Look for that signature ripe raspberry icon in any other web browser to import instantly.
You'll love sharing your recipes with friends and family, keeping those flavors of home circulating generation after generation.
Developed by foodies who love their Apple devices, this 21st-century cooking tool helps you get your recipes into a quickly-sorted, easily shared format that can’t be misplaced, covered in stains, or catch on fire. When recipes are easy to collect, easy to retrieve and easy to read, you can focus on the pleasures of preparing delicious food.
A word on our in app purchases: We're not gatekeeping - We don't charge subscriptions, track your whereabouts, sell your info, or make you watch ads, and we plan to keep it that way. But of course, we think this upgrade deserves a tip of the hat. If we've added more value to your life than our purchase price, consider a top-up once in a while. We appreciate it.

I nearly cried when I saw they finally updated the app!
Jacqjacks
UPDATE: After EIGHT (8) very long years, this app was *finally* updated and runs on iOS 16+!! I have tried nearly every app available and nothing has ever come close to this one. I even forked out for a MasterChef subscription for a while, but their interface is so kludgey and archaic, I cancelled it. My only concern is whether this app will be supported going forward. I got caught once with all my eggs…er…recipes in one basket, so I am not likely to do that again. I would happily pay for a subscription that includes responsive support and a full, EASY export of the recipes (not just an option to mail them individually or export into a proprietary format). Export feature is a hands down deal breaker to get me to use this app as my primary recipe database. Original review (many many years ago):I absolutely love this app, but it definitely has some bugs. It will often crash while assigning a category in entry view. It happens so often, that I have gotten into the habit of saving the recipe without any categories and then going back in to add them later. The keyboards have a great feature of adding keys for recipe specific needs such as 1/2, 1/4, degree symbol, etc. however, I constantly have to flip between portrait and landscape because the symbols are different on each and because the text doesn't scroll well, so you often can't see what you're typing (esp in landscape mode). Lastly, I am always concerned about having all of my recipes in a proprietary format that is not supported across platforms without an export option. Who knows if I will continue to use an iPad, especially with all of the recent problems with iOS 8 that is making my iPad borderline useless?
Great app!

I have been using this app now for a couple of years and I love The Recipe Box app. I love that I can have one on my tablet and my phone and I can synchronize them. The phone app is handy when I'm at the grocery store and I decide I want to make something. I can look up the ingredients to make sure I have everything.Three things I would do to make it better are:1. Add a version for the web so that I can enter recipes via my laptop. This would be very handy for entering my hardcopy recipes. I can type much faster on my laptop keyboard than the tablet keyboard.2. I know there is a workaround when the import does not work, but it feels like one version the import works and in the next version it does not. I think more extensive testing should be done with each of the sites you can import from before releasing an update. Many times if I cannot import I just won't add it to my recipe box.3. Give me a way to export to a text file. As much as I would like to believe this app will be around forever, reality tells me that it won't. My concern is that I will never be able to export my recipes in the event this ever happens. The idea of emailing myself each recipe sounds painful.
Love it! And Love the Update!

Updated review: I was so excited to see this app get updated and be supported again! I have used this app for years for my recipes and to help meal plan, but over time it had lost the ability to transfer recipes between the app on my iPhone and my iPad. The “instant import” feature had also stopped working (as far as I could tell), but I could still manually import recipes from websites and blogs so I made the best of it and it was still a mostly useful app. But NOW, with the update, everything is back and even better than before. The transfer between my phone and iPad works again. Even better, instant recipe import is even better than before!! I just imported a recipe from a food blog with the touch of a button! So amazing and way easier than the manual import I used to do. I love it and will go back to recommending this app to friends. *********Great app! So easy to upload recipes from websites. I have it on both my iPad and iPhone and sync recipes between them. I use the app as a way to brainstorm dinner ideas. Before each grocery store trip, I browse the dinner recipes and select which one I'm going to make that week. So nice to have them all in one place and not rummaging through all of my cookbooks, magazines, and random scraps of paper for ideas.
NO UPDATES FOR 7 YEARS = DEAD APP!!!
Lacemaker 427
This WAS an excellent app for many years, but they stopped updating and customer service went silent over 7 years ago. The many iOS updates since then have precipitated a whole host of function issues with The Recipe Box that make it essentially useless. I am sorry to have to give up on this old favorite, but the time for holding on has come and gone. If you download this app in 2020 or later, I’m afraid your heart will be broken when one day it simply fails to function altogether. That is a nightmare scenario for recipe archivists like me. Allow me to opine that you shouldn't waste your money on this long dead app. I needed a new home for my precious recipe collection, so I searched online for opinions, and read the AppStore descriptions of every one that was recommended. PAPRIKA 3 kept rising to the top, so that’s what I bought. It has plenty of very useful functions, is intuitive to use, and it is intelligently laid out — so it is an excellent substitute for Recipe Box. I have no financial interest in the company that sells Paprika 3, and I do not know the developer; after 3+ years of use, I still think Paprika 3 is the best recipe archive in the AppStore.
Developer Response
Hi Lacemaker, maybe you don’t work for paprika but wow, maybe you should review them instead? Our app is now updated and not only does it work great, but we think it’s more intuitive and more pleasurable to use than any other recipe app. The Recipe Box has features that no other app provides, like viewing two recipes at once. We have so many loyal users who disagree with you. Thanks for writing, though! Have a nice day!
