SCENARIO Ed is a companion app for SCENARIO, designed to promote a worldwide community of practice amongst medical students, trainees, and educators.
In SCENARIO, the medical educator accesses randomly generated case studies and corresponding prompts (“scenarios”) under topic headings for a range of categories. These scenarios are intended to generate educational discourse between the educator and their student/ trainee during their session together.
SCENARIO Ed has been developed to build on the student/ trainee’s experience outside this session. This app offers an online forum where the user can document their own reasoning for a specified scenario, and expand their understanding through the responses provided by other learners at different educational levels and in a variety of international jurisdictions. The many ways this same scenario might be managed in other regulatory and cultural contexts will give the SCENARIO Ed user an enriched experience of medical education aimed at connecting them with a global medical community of practice.
Access to the forum content in SCENARIO Ed requires the Unique ID of a verified SCENARIO user (for instance, a medical educator/ supervisor*) along with the 6-digit code of the specified SCENARIO app scenario. The developer, GPSA, deliberately offers no answers for these scenarios, reflecting the multiple variables a medical practitioner must factor into the delivery of high quality healthcare.
Both SCENARIO and SCENARIO Ed are designed to augment the medical education experience and are not intended to replace any educational resources produced for this purpose regionally.
*There is no barrier for learners to join the SCENARIO app community: by doing so they can benefit from the forum exchanges in SCENARIO Ed using the Unique IDs of the full SCENARIO content.
