This update focuses on performance, stability, and giving you more control over your studio. We’ve made a major upgrade under the hood: Lylac is now faster, more reliable, and better built for long-term scalability. Studios now have more flexibility with premium layouts for Friends of Lylac, including Full Bleed Grid, Editorial, and Index, giving you greater control when shaping your portfolio. We’ve also introduced the Editorial layout in-app (now aligned with Lylac Web Studios), alongside a new Full Bleed Column layout for a more immersive presentation. Switching studio modes now includes confirmation, with subtle haptic feedback. We’ve refined the layouts menu in studios for a cleaner experience, and made improvements and fixes to onboarding.

Lylac is now open to all creatives, no application required. We’ve introduced stronger security measures behind the scenes, so anyone can join and start creating straight away. You can now sign up with Apple, and onboarding has been refined with a more intuitive flow and improved creative practice search.

We’ve introduced new layout options for web studios, giving you more control over how your work is presented, whether you're building a portfolio, an archive, or something more fluid. Your studio can now function even more naturally as your personal website, without the usual friction. We’ve also refined the overall UI/UX of web studios to make things feel smoother, clearer, and more considered across the app to web interface. Alongside this, you’ll find new controls when editing your studio in the app, allowing you to better shape how your studio appears on the web, from layout to presentation.

This update refines the membership application process. You can now enable notifications to hear back on the status of your application, and we’ve improved the reliability of application updates so creators are notified when their application has been reviewed. We’ve also made a few small improvements behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly.

We’ve fixed issues in the sign-up process that were preventing some users from choosing their desired usernames. Account creation is now smoother and more reliable, making it easier to get started on Lylac. Thanks for being part of the journey.

This update is about creative autonomy. You can now invite specific creators into your studios and assign individual roles, giving you fine-grain control over who can view, contribute or help shape the space. Collaboration feels considered, not chaotic. Studios are now fully re-arrangeable, with updated layout options and a more refined design across the entire app. Everything feels cleaner, more considered, and more intentional. You can upload multiple images in a single post, allowing projects to unfold properly rather than being reduced to one frame. Customisation has expanded significantly. Personalise your profile and your studios with background images, themes, preview card styles and layout choices. Introducing Studio Modes: WIP, Critique and Showcase, so your space adapts to how you’re working. Students with an @arts.ac.uk email can now skip the application process, and existing members can invite friends directly, keeping the space creative, but easier to enter. Lylac continues to evolve into something closer to a real studio environment. Slower. More deliberate. Built around the work.
