Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) represents the legal tender provided by RBI in a digital form. It is similar to traditional sovereign paper currency, offered in a distinct form that is interchangeable at an equivalent value with the physical currency and offers all the transactional advantages of other forms of digital money.
The IDBI eRupee wallet mobile application enables secure and rapid CBDC transactions. With eRupee app, users can conveniently load and redeem CBDC/ digital currency by linking their bank accounts. Transfers of CBDC can be made to other users by entering the recipient's phone number or by scanning either CBDC QR codes or UPI QR codes for payments to individuals and merchants. The app further includes features such as transaction history, the option to change PINs, current balance viewing, wallet access, and the capability to file disputes.
Your wallet, along with all associated details, is securely managed by the bank. In the event of a device loss, corruption, or malfunction, you can easily recover your wallet balance and continue using your account without any disruptions. The bank ensures that your funds and data remain safe, offering seamless experience.
