Each year, thousands of high-quality documentaries are produced. The Academy of Motion Pictures routinely gets hundreds of submissions every year. Sundance and other film festivals get thousands of submissions, but they only show on average 3%. The others disappear because there is no place for them to be seen.
There is no “home” for documentaries anywhere. There are “homes” for news, movies, original scripted content, nostalgia, food, travel, and every other genre, but not for documentaries.
