This new app is missing everything that made the old app good. Pluses: migration went smoothly and now you can purchase books directly from the app (but only with “coins” that are more expensive than on the website, and if you can manage to sift through the titles to find what you’re looking for)Minuses: No bookshelves to sort your books. Can’t even sort by series. Books that I’ve finished aren’t marked as read. I have almost 300 books with about 80 unread so far and all that reading data seems to have been lost. Wishlist data became Favorites for some baffling reason. There’s now no separate list to keep track of books you’re interested in reading.Honestly, the new app is incredibly clunky and seems to be designed to make it hard to actually read the books you have, or even find new ones. Lucky, the old app still works fine and I’ll just avoid picking up any new books until this one is fixed. Otherwise I’ll be going elsewhere for new light novels.

I was big fan of the original bookwalker app, the is new app took away everything that made the old app perfect. Let’s talk about what’s missing, no way to organize books via bookshelf or even sort by series, no buy sequel option, wishlist was merged with favorites during migration, no offline mode or ability to download!!!! This is a huge problem! The good news, you can now purchase on the app, preorder option seems to be better too. this app has potential but it needs to bring the old feature mentioned above back to keep users.

I used to spend hundreds a month buying manga the legal way through BookWalker, but the website/app redesign and business changes just made me quit immediately. I don’t care what they promise for the future, they shouldn’t had pushed out an incomplete replacement. Is the leadership in charge of the English version stupid? Incompetent? In every possible way the English version is inferior to the Japanese (they didn’t change). I’m never looking back, I’ll find manga elsewhere.

The new app is missing some basic features. One of the biggest issues is there is now way to group by title any longer. It really feels like a major downgrade from the original app and I have no idea why the devs would make the decision to do this. I’ll increase my review if good quality of life improvements are made. Until that point, this is app is terrible and I’m rating it as such.
