This new game is a huge setback to the previous game, the base building is wonky and really annoying to even place anything down, not to mention it just being the exact same island as before, I like the new character creation, I feel like I can make some really cool characters with it but it would be nice to have the old character creation as an option. I’m not the biggest fan of the whole wave base defense gimmick, I liked the old game being more of a clash of clans game than whatever this new remake is.

I remember playing the original game, back when it was a Clash of Clans-esque title. Back in that era, this game was fun. Being able to build armies of your own uniquely designed troops and having a nice, easy editor to use. Now, years after I last played, I expected to find that its successor would at least be similar to that, right? Well, in terms of reusing the same assets as the last game? Yes. In terms of everything else? This is not good. The former, much easier to use, voxel-based character creator is gone, in place is essentially Blender on an IPad. Gone is the simple and intuitive voxel system. In its place, we essentially have to model using basic squares and rectangles, which, yeah, it’s nice to be able to have more unique shape language, but overall, it doesn’t fit the rest of the aesthetic, and the actual system of moving these squares around is really poorly done, being way too sensitive, and even with grid snap enabled, being really difficult to use. In terms of the actual gameplay, this “real-time strategy” is basically just a watered-down version of the combat in a game like Genshin Impact. It’s a generic hack-and-slash game with very slight tower defense elements. Overall, it’s disappointing. Please improve. If not change the gameplay, at least allow us to use the old editor.

This remake had serious potential. I was hoping for the revival of craft warriors for a long time. The game itself uses most of the sounds from the old game, and if there’s any new ones, they don’t sound right. The animations aren’t good compared to the previous game and it’s very buggy. I’d recommend starting up old craft warriors if possible. You may get some players that way.

I want to like it, I really do, I was being generous with the 3 stars but in reality I think it deserves 2 stars, I played and enjoyed the original craft warriors and I was hyped for this one but there seems to be more cons than pros, for one it feels unoptimized and laggy, the unit building feels unnecessarily complex and it doesn’t feel as polished as its predecessor. I’ll give it 2 weeks to improve a bit, but until then, I’d prefer the return of the original craft warriors.
