三国时代是中国的一个历史时期。东汉末年，曹操统一中国北方并实际上以丞相的职位掌握东汉政权，取得“魏王” 称号，加九锡。
西元220年，曹操病逝，其子曹丕继位，同年强迫东汉末代皇帝献帝刘协禅位，至此东汉政权灭亡，三国时代正式开始。
西元221年，刘备以益州为根据地自立为皇，国号“汉”，史称“蜀汉”或“季汉”。同年，割据扬州、荆州、交州等地的孙权接受曹魏政权的册封，称“吴王”。
西元229年，孙权称帝建国，国号“吴”，史称“东吴”。
西元263年，控制曹魏政权的司马家族吞并蜀汉，于265年废帝自立，国号“晋”，史称“西晋”。
西元280年，西晋攻克江南的孙吴政权，统一中国，三国时代就此结束。
