I seriously love this game, the graphics are really beautiful and artfully done, the storyline is good and interesting and the music is fantastic! It does take a long time to get stars to move the storyline along but the mini games are a nice addition for earning stars quicker. If I had a suggestion, I would maybe ask for there to be places to revisit spots in each room or to reread the parts of the story that you have unlocked… because sometimes you spend like 300 stars and you have just lifted a blanket and it takes days to like see more of the story and by then you’re like “wait what was I doing?” But I love it. I don’t even like merging games but the items are beautiful everything is stunning so it’s okay lol. Love that there is a spooky narrative too!

Most merge games follow a similar theme. Young girl, cute cozy world. Haunted merge went a completely different direction with their world building and story telling. The spooky setting is very well done. Almost every line is voice acted. You’re not in an isometric over-world view; the different rooms allow for a more detailed world which is essential for an immersive experience. Is this giving me nightmares? Of course not. But if you’re a merge genre fan that’s exhausted every cute merge game out there, then I invite you to take a shot at Haunted Merge. You won’t be let down. It has all the mechanics and charm that a modern merge game should have.

The merge mechanics are well balanced and smooth, with less running-out-of-space and more interesting and obvious progressions, and the story is great fun, clever and eerie and surprising. Playing it for free is without any obvious constraint, even with the frequent reminders of how much more you might enjoy it.Much of this comes from the complete Chineseness of the story, characters, and setting, as well as the Americanity of this reviewer, but I love this game and when I have a job again, I’ll happily spend money on it.

This game definitely needs a way to pick up the pace without spending a ton of money. You need multiple items to get enough stars to move forward, but you only have a maximum of 100 moves you can use to build the items. A level 10 item takes 512 merges to create and then you still have to have other items to complete a set to get maybe enough starts to find out the next two sentences of the story. You will wait 2 minutes per energy unit and you will not have enough when it is full to create a full set to get to the next sentence of the story. At this point, I don’t know that I will have the interest in the story to continue as long as it will take for me to finish it. They definitely need to overhaul the pace of this game so it can maintain your interest.
