About the USCPA Exam
Structure & Format
Each of the four exam sections is 4 hours long, combining Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Task-Based Simulations (TBSs) in five testlets.
For most sections, MCQs and TBSs split scores equally (50/50), except in ISC where TBS carries 40%.
Core Versus Discipline
•Core Sections (mandatory): AUD, FAR, REG
•Discipline Sections (choose 1): BAR, ISC, or TCP
Each discipline builds on a Core:
•BAR pairs with FAR
•ISC pairs with AUD
•TCP pairs with REG
Scoring & Eligibility
You must score 75 or higher (scaled score) in each chosen section to pass.
Many states allow a 30-month rolling window to pass all sections.
Eligibility varies by state, but generally requires a bachelor’s degree, accumulated accounting credits, and sometimes 150 semester hours.
