While there’s no denying that nothing beats “in person” community, there is something so special about having the access to reach out to moms at any time of the day. As someone who has had two kids so far that aren’t sleepers, being able to chat, vent, laugh with other moms in the middle of the night has been so reassuring. I never liked texting people in the middle of the night in fear of disturbing their sleep, so to be able to reach out and connect with other moms going through the same thing at the same time has made me feel less lonely and is extremely validating. I think there’s great opportunity to add to this app too. Not sure what, but this space is something special and I can’t wait to see where it continues to go!

I downloaded Along The Waves when it first released, I had been anticipating the release and was excited for the potential connections and community that had been advertised. First of all, the ENTIRE app is hidden behind a paywall. I had not been anticipating this, and was really disappointed there wasn’t even an option to have limited access for free. I signed up for the free trial to peruse and there seems to be a ton of really great resources! However every single time I reached out on a message board I was met with crickets. As a nursing mom, I was looking for some connection during those middle of the night feeds and it seemed like there was no one online. Also there is a feature called “porch light” that you can use to show others you’re available for connecting however it does not actually show when someone is actually online. I think that feature would be great, to show you who is awake when you feel alone the most. Overall the potential is there it just needs some tweaks here and there.

This app has been wonderful so far! First off the concept is absolutely amazing. Made by a mom who knows those highs and lows of parenting. A favorite brand that has come about, the apparel is spot on. The app…I love the chat rooms, mini mediations for allll the moods you’re in, how you can send support to others with the tap of a button, and the overall village feel. Loving the new addition of PreK activities. Being able to set my mood is liberating in a way and I know I won’t be judged for how I’m feeling. The glimmers! Record a glimmer from your week and look back on the good memories parenting is such a beautiful & chaotic rollercoaster. This is a safe space and a village in one. Can’t wait to see how the app continues to grow. Bravo Along the Waves!

I’ve really enjoyed the concept of this app and the opportunity to connect with other moms in a similar stage of life. The encouragement notes are such a thoughtful touch and always brighten my day when they pop up. I also appreciate the potential for meaningful community and support here.The reason I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because I’ve found the interface a bit confusing at times. For example, when trying to explore more chats, I’m often only prompted to create my own chat rather than browse existing ones. I’ve also run into errors when attempting to join certain chats without any explanation of why. I’d love to be more engaged in the app, but right now it can be difficult to figure out where and how to participate.
