more Tournament registration, front and center. Open registration and everyone RSVPs in the app — goodbye to the Thursday-morning Signal spam of "I'm in." It's been here a while; you just never noticed.
Over 800 courses added. Set a home course or pull up one near you — take the game on the road instead of fighting the app to find where you're playing.
Foursome setup that doesn't test your patience. Tap to move a player to any group or to staging, auto-balance teams by handicap with one button, and collapse the groups you're done fiddling with. Drag-and-drop still works, if you're into that.
More stats. Deeper player and scorecard insight — because you know you want receipts on that round.
Round history, two taps away. Past rounds are no longer buried; the leaderboard points you straight to them.
Plus a look-and-feel tune-up, sturdier location handling, smarter tee times, and the usual under-the-hood gremlin removal.
5.0 May 19
We rebuilt the leaderboard. Again. This time with a proper header row, uniform columns, and — for Game 24 fans — a live count of how many of your 24 picks you've burned. Your scorekeeper no longer needs a calculator.
Score entry now keeps all four player names on screen at any text size, because apparently that was optional before.
Custom games can now select best scores per 9 or across all 18.
Bugs fixed. New ones incoming.

Custom games: select best scores per 9 or across all 18
Bug Fixes:
Various UI fixes that probably should have worked before
4.3.1 Mar 19
v4.2 - "The One Where We Got a Website"
What's New:
- Live Leaderboards on the Web - Your buddy who "forgot to download the app" can now follow scores at SaturdayGame.app. No more excuses, Tony.
- Tournament Registration - Sign up for tournaments right from the app. Pick your tee time. Pretend you're booking Augusta.
- Dashboard Glow-Up - Redesigned dashboard with stats, smoother typography, and a whole new look.
- Groups Got Better - Expandable member lists, handicap editing from the dashboard, and groups on the web too.
- Custom Game Config - Hole-by-hole custom game setup is back and better than ever.
Bug Fixes:
- Scorekeeper flags no longer leak between foursomes (that was a weird one)
- Non-admins can actually register for tournaments now (oops)
- Tee time interval picker works like a picker should
4.2 Mar 4
Registration Improvements
- Redesigned registration UI with RSVP order, waitlist visibility, and max player limits. Non-admins can now register themselves.
- Admins can email the roster to the pro shop directly from the app.
Notifications That Navigate Correctly
- Tapping a registration notification now actually takes you to the registration screen instead of... somewhere else. The bar was low.
- App refreshes tournament data when returning from background instead of showing you a museum exhibit.
Tournament & Scoring
- Custom game hole-by-hole configuration restored after it quietly disappeared during a refactor.
- Tee time interval picker is now tappable on the whole row, not just a 12-pixel target.
Dashboard
- New dashboard with stats, score charts, and inline handicap editing. Your ego boost (or reality check) is one tap away.
Polish
- Animated splash screen, login screen redesign, and zero compiler warnings. We're basically professionals now.
4.1 Feb 15
- No more need for Signal app "I'm in"? Tournament registration screen layout improved, and now shows you who's playing instead of making you tap through 17 menus to find out.
- Removed the "Can't Make It" button that, ironically, couldn't make it work
- The tee time interval picker now responds to taps.
4.0.1 Jan 31
Saturday Game v4.0 -
Philippe couldn't save scores past hole 5. Our security rules were checking if he had permission to save, finding that he did, then asking "but do you REALLY though?" and rejecting you anyway.
WHAT'S NEW
Fresh UI
We've given the app a visual refresh. New brand colors, cleaner layouts, and an updated shield logo that looks less like it was designed during a lunch break. Empty states now have friendly graphics instead of sad blank screens judging you for not having any tournaments yet.
Save Status Indicators
You know that feeling when you text someone and don't know if it sent? That was our score saving experience. Now you'll see "Saving..." when we're working on it, and if something goes wrong, you'll get an actual error message instead of optimistic silence. We've learned that "no news is good news" doesn't apply to database writes.
Multi-Course Support
Your group can now play different courses throughout the season. We finally realized that golfers occasionally leave Almaden, like some kind of migratory birds with expensive equipment and strong opinions about greens fees.
Tournament Workflow Redesign
We rebuilt tournament creation as a step-by-step wizard because watching you fill out our old form was like watching someone try to fold a fitted sheet while explaining the infield fly rule. Now it walks you through dates, courses, game formats, tee assignments, and foursomes one step at a time. You can still mess it up, but you'll have to really commit to it.
Improved Tee Assignments
Assign tees per player with proper handicap calculations. The app now knows that someone playing from the reds has different stroke allocations than someone playing from the tips. Math!
BUG FIXES
- Non-admin scorekeepers can now save scores (the actual reason this update exists)
- Save failures now announce themselves instead of suffering in silence like a British person with a restaurant complaint
- macOS companion app remembers it exists and functions accordingly
- Scores entered on hole 18 no longer require admin privileges, a prayer, and a blood sacrifice
- Fixed a bug where the app would lose track of which foursome you were in, like a confused caddy at a scramble
UNDER THE HOOD
- Firestore security rules now check permissions the way we originally intended, not the way we accidentally wrote them at 2am
- Network errors and permission denials are detected and reported instead of shrugged off like a questionable drop
- Data syncs between devices more reliably, for those keeping score across multiple phones like a golf IT department
- Added player ID tracking to foursomes so the database knows who's allowed to do what without an existential crisis
Update now. Your playing partners are tired of re-entering their scores, and frankly, so are we.
4.0 Jan 20
What's New:
- Fresh "Augusta Elevated" color palette. We're basically the Masters now, minus the green jacket and the pimento sandwiches.
- New shield logo graces the login screen. Very medieval. Very golf.
- Split Best Net Ball into two formats because the group chat arguments were getting out of hand.
Fixed:
- Admins can no longer snoop on other groups' tournaments. The power trip has ended.
- The "Done" button now actually waits for your scores to save. Revolutionary, we know.
- Handicap cap actually caps now. Math is hard.
- Leaderboard no longer plays hide-and-seek after completing a tournament.
- Account deletion works reliably. For those ready to rage-quit golf entirely.
Also:
- Added deep links because apparently typing is too much effort.
- Pro player settings for those of you who think you're on the PGA Tour.
- History view improvements so you can relive your triple bogeys in stunning detail.
3.7 Jan 13
- App stability improved. Your swing? Still your problem.
3.6.1 Jan 8
The Great Green Purge
Turns out green text on a golf app was "too on the nose." We've switched to blue because apparently we have commitment issues with our brand color.
Scorekeeper Shuffle
You can now change scorekeepers mid-round. For when Tony insists he can do math after his third cocktail at the turn, and you need to quietly reassign duties.
Foursomes That Actually Generate
Fixed a bug where creating a tournament with players resulted in... no players. Revolutionary concept: when you add people, they should appear.
Icons That Know Where They Live
Empty state icons now center themselves properly. They've completed their mindfulness training.
Streamlined Tournament Setup
Merged the tee selection step because clicking "Next" one more time was apparently asking too much. We hear you, lazy fingers.
"Complete Tournament" Actually Completes Now
The button does what it says. Groundbreaking, we know.
3.6 12/29/2025
- No new features because we were too busy teaching network requests about healthy boundaries and timeouts.
3.4 12/24/2025
• Live Activities now show the right score for your format. Your triple bogey will display correctly whether you're playing alone or dragging down your team.
• New tee time scheduling - because "8-ish" wasn't working out.
• Add guest players without accounts. Perfect for that friend who swears they'll "definitely play more often."
• Various fixes for bugs that were more frustrating than a lip-out.
3.2 12/18/2025
- Added index check before entering scores for hole 1
- Bug fixes
3.1 12/15/2025
- more bug fixes, improvements and usability additions
