THE SCIENCE
Plants generate bioelectric signals through ion channels in their cell membranes. These signals change in response to touch, sound, light, and even human presence. Plantangle uses machine learning trained on real biometric data to detect correlations between your activity and the plant's responses.
REQUIREMENTS
- ESP32-based plant sensor with AD8232 bioelectric amplifier
- Local WiFi network (plant sensors connect via WebSocket)
- The app works with the Living Synthesis exhibition hardware
RESEARCH BACKGROUND
Developed in collaboration with research at MIT Center for Collective Intelligence and University of Cologne, building on work in Collaborative Innovation Networks (COINs) and swarm creativity. Part of ongoing research into plant sentience, bioelectric communication, and human-plant interaction.
ABOUT LIVING SYNTHESIS
Plantangle is the companion app for the Living Synthesis exhibition, touring Swiss museums in 2026. The exhibition explores the boundary between living and artificial systems through interactive plant bioelectric installations.
