Character and Compassion is the companion app for participants in the Character and Compassion contemplative ethics course—a program that weaves Jewish wisdom with contemporary research on well-being, ethics, and human flourishing.
This app provides everything you need to support your practice between sessions:
Practices
Access weekly practices for each skill, including written instructions, guided audio recordings, and reflective journaling prompts. The curriculum covers four foundational skills: Embodied Awareness (Hargashah), Ethical Mindfulness (Cheshbon HaNefesh), Emotional Awareness (Avodat HaLev), and Self-Compassion (Rachamim Al Atzmi).

Character and Compassion is adapted from Compassionate Integrity Training (CIT), an evidence-based program developed at Emory University. This version integrates the original curriculum's scientific foundations with the depth of Jewish ethical tradition—drawing on Mussar, Chassidic teachings, and contemporary Jewish thought.
The course is designed for open, curious, reflective people who value both ancient wisdom and modern research. No particular religious belief is required.
This app is available free to registered course participants.
