Gitzy
Professional Git for Devs
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Gitzy is a serious Git client built for developers. It brings full version control to iPhone and iPad with a focus on reliability, safety, and transparency. Whether you clone a repo, inspect history, or sync with a remote, Gitzy is designed to match the expectations of developers who rely on Git every day.
Repository management sits at the core. Open an existing repository, initialize a new one, or clone over HTTPS. Authentication uses tokens stored securely in the system Keychain. You stay in control of your credentials and your data.
The visual commit graph gives you a clear view of branch structure, merges, and history. Navigate by time, search by message or author, and drill into any commit. A dedicated diff viewer shows exactly what changed, with support for staging at file, hunk, or line level. Branch management covers checkout, create, delete, rebase onto another branch, and upstream setup.
Power tools are built in. Rebase and revert keep history predictable. Reset supports soft, mixed, and hard modes. Clean and discard handle untracked and modified files with explicit confirmation. Every destructive action is gated so you know what will happen before you confirm.
Sync is safe and transparent. Push, pull, and fetch integrate with your remotes. When something goes wrong, Gitzy maps low-level errors to human-readable messages and suggests recovery steps. Pre-push checks warn about non-fast-forward and other risky states so you can decide how to proceed.
AI assistance is optional and entirely under your control. Use it for commit message suggestions or repository insights if you enable it. Local and cloud-backed options are available; no data is sent unless you trigger an AI feature and have configured a provider.
Gitzy is built to be robust and developer-first. It prioritizes correctness over shortcuts and clarity over jargon. Your repository data stays on your device. Credentials stay in the Keychain. The app does not track you, does not show ads, and does not depend on third-party analytics. If you need a Git client that respects your workflow and your privacy, Gitzy is built for you.
# Gitzy 2.3 — Release Notes
Welcome to **Gitzy 2.3**! This update improves how you organize repositories, keeps the commit graph steady while you sync, and makes working with repos **outside your default storage folder** reliable on macOS and iOS.
### Repository list
- **Favorites:** Pin important repositories to the top of the list.
- **Sorting:** Choose how the list is ordered—recently opened, recently added, or by name.
### Smoother repository refresh
- After fetch, pull, push, or refresh, the commit graph and changes view stay visible while data reloads, with less flashing and fewer layout jumps.
### Repositories outside the default folder
- **Browse to open:** If a repository lives outside your configured default location, use **Browse** to add it—Gitzy can store the security-scoped access it needs.
- **Clear guidance:** Pasting a path that still needs explicit access shows a helpful message instead of failing silently.
- **Remotes & sync:** Once access is granted, remote URLs are resolved more reliably (Git remotes first, with config as a fallback).
- **Folder access banner:** If access is still missing, repository detail shows a clear callout with **Choose folder…**—presented as a Gitzy-style card with a gradient icon tile, strong typography, and the primary action, so it matches the rest of the app instead of feeling like a generic warning.
### Clone & hosting defaults
- **Example clone URL** in hints now uses `https://github.com/...` as the sample.
- **Default host ordering** in quick-select and related flows lists **GitHub** before **Codeberg**, matching common expectations while staying provider-agnostic.
### AI (local / structured)
- **Commit drafts:** AI-generated commit messages are less likely to repeat a generic example title—the draft flow no longer primes the model with a stock sample commit line.
- **Consistency across providers:** Structured AI features use the same task-specific prompts and explicit JSON contracts more consistently (including **Ollama**), so behavior lines up better between providers.
### Reliability
- **Missing worktree index:** Opening a repository no longer fails only because `.git/index` is temporarily missing; conflict state stays sensible until Git restores the index.
