Nemo Places
Shared maps that stay current
Free
New: shared maps that stay current. Share a link that follows your edits — friends see the latest on the web or in the app. No accounts, ever.
Save the places you love. Share a map that stays current.
Build a personal map of favorite cafés, weekend plans and places worth coming back to. Share the places you choose with a link, or follow a friend's map right alongside your own.
SHARE ONCE, KEEP IT CURRENT
Choose "Share and keep updated" to create a link that follows your edits. Add a place, change a note or remove a spot, and anyone who opens the link sees the latest version. They can explore it without installing Nemo. You pick which places go out, and you can stop sharing anytime.
FOLLOW A FRIEND'S MAP
Keep a friend's shared map on yours. Their places appear next to your own, clearly marked, and refresh as they make changes. Get directions, or save your own copy of the ones you love.
SAVE A PLACE IN SECONDS
Long-press anywhere on the map to save a place. Add a name, notes and an emoji category: coffee, parks, bookstores, date spots, or whatever matters to you.
FIND YOUR NEXT STOP
The Visible places list shows how far each place is from you. Nothing saved in view? "Show nearest saved place" takes you to the closest one. Long-press a place in the list for Directions.
On iPad in landscape and on the Mac, keep the list pinned as a sidebar that follows the map while you explore.
PLANS THAT EXPIRE
Give a place an expiration date for pop-ups, festivals or weekly markets. An orange clock badge marks it until it expires and hides on its own.
PHOTOS FROM THIS PLACE
Open a saved place to see photos you took nearby, from your own Photos library. Photos stay on your device and are never included in shared maps.
SEND A COPY, TOO
Send a snapshot link that anyone can explore or forward. Friends who use Nemo can save a copy of your places to their own map.
IMPORT & EXPORT
Bring in places from Google My Maps, GeoJSON, KML or KMZ files, and export yours anytime.
ON iPHONE, iPAD AND MAC
Works without an account. Optional sign-in syncs your places across your devices. No ads and no cross-app tracking.
ACCESSIBILITY
VoiceOver and Voice Control support. Respects Reduce Motion and Reduce Transparency.

Save places from Apple Maps and Google Maps. Share a place from Maps and choose Nemo: Nemo opens with the save card filled in, ready for you to check. Or paste a Maps link into the search field and tap "Save place from link".
If you already have that place, Nemo opens it instead and says "Already in your map".
A new place now shows its address, website and phone number before you save it.
The link itself is never stored. Only the place is.
1.5.0 4d ago
Search your places: the list now has a search field. It finds a place from any part of its name or notes, ignores accents and forgives small typos.
Visible or All: switch the list between the places on screen and all your places, with your filters still applied. If a search finds nothing on screen, one tap searches all your places.
My location now centers the map right away, even if you haven't moved in hours.
If you're signed in, Account has a new Account analytics setting. It shares summaries of your synced places and account activity, like cities and categories, to help improve Nemo, never names, notes or exact locations. You can turn it off at any time.
1.4.5 6d ago
The list of visible places now shows how far each one is from you, in the units your device uses. The distances appear whenever you are near the places on screen.
When none of your places is in view, Filters offers "Show nearest saved place" with its distance from the map center, and one tap takes you there. If your filters are hiding everything, it offers to reset them instead.
On iPad in landscape and on the Mac, the list can stay open as a sidebar that follows the map as you move around: tap the pin in its header.
Touch and hold a place in the list (or right-click it on the Mac) for Directions.
Dragging the Filters card on iPhone is smoother, and its text no longer looks doubled while it moves.
As always, everything works on your device with no account required.
1.4.4 Sep 26
After you save your third place, Nemo shows a small hint once, pointing at the button where sharing lives. Tap it and the Share button is right there; tap anywhere else and it never comes back.
On the Mac, a Nemo link you click in Messages, Mail or a browser now opens in the app.
The app now sends one anonymous message the first time it is launched after installation: which platform, app version and device model, and nothing that identifies you. It lets us see how many people start using Nemo while the app stores' own reports lag. The privacy policy describes it.
As always, everything works on your device with no account required.
1.4.3 Sep 26
Nemo can now look the way you want: choose System, Light or Dark under Appearance, and the map, the cards and the menus follow your choice instead of the device's setting.
The options menu got tidier. It now fits under the search bar on iPhone, so the bar stays put when you open it. The map switches (photos, points of interest, Appearance) moved into a Display page, and the filters are now three chips in one row: Mine only, Hide visited and Show expired. A Reset button appears whenever a filter is active, on Android too.
As always, everything works on your device with no account required.
1.4.2 Sep 23
Cleaning up your map used to mean opening places one at a time. Now the list does it: swipe a row to delete it, or tap Select to pick several and delete them, change their category, mark them visited, or add them all to a shared map at once. Deleting several asks first, and names any shared maps they will leave. Every delete then waits five seconds with an Undo button, and nothing is written until that runs out.
Saved the same place twice from two devices? "Find duplicates" in the list's sort menu gathers the places saved at the very same spot, suggests which copy to keep, and says why. It keeps one and deletes the rest; notes are not merged.
On Android zooming is smooth now, and a pinch behaves the way it does on iPhone. Two fingers pan and zoom only: map rotation and tilt are off.
Nemo for Mac also catches up with the previous release, bringing permanent addresses for your shared maps, your own collection page, and the chooser for two pins saved a step apart.
As always, everything works on your device with no account required.
1.4.1 Sep 21
Your shared maps can now have a permanent address. Choose a username in Account, then name any shared map: nemo.town/u/your-name/map-name stays the same for as long as you share it. Turn on "Show in my collection" and nemo.town/u/your-name lists the maps you chose to show — one link for a bio or a newsletter.
Two places saved a step apart used to hide behind one pin. Tap it and Nemo asks which one you meant.
Also in this release: a press on a place opens it however long your finger stays down, the Mac reads the map's labels only when you click (so it stays cool), and the Delete button is red, as it should be.
As always, everything works on your device with no account required.
1.4.0 Sep 19
Have an idea for Nemo? There's now a quiet way to send it: open Account and tap "Have an idea for Nemo?". One line is enough. Ideas being considered, planned, or already shipped show up right there, so you can see where things are headed.
As always, everything works on your device with no account required.
1.3.2 Sep 16
Nemo comes to the Mac — and iPad gets room to breathe.
Nemo is now a native Mac app: your places, categories, and shared maps on the desktop, with a real menu bar and keyboard shortcuts.
On iPad in landscape, Nemo now uses a roomy two-pane layout — the map beside a panel for your places, options, and shared maps.
As always, everything works on your device with no account required. Sign in only if you want your places kept in sync.
1.3.1 Sep 15
Your places, now on every device.
Sign in — it's optional — and Nemo keeps your saved places, categories, and the maps you share and follow in sync across all your devices. Save a spot on one, and it's waiting on the others.
Prefer to keep it simple? Nothing changes. Nemo is still local-first: your places always live on your device, and there's no account unless you want one.
Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email — with password reset and delete-anytime accounts.
1.3.0 Sep 11
See how many people follow your shared maps — each map you share now shows its follower count.
Tap any shared map to fly straight to its places. And when you zoom out, spots from maps you follow now gather into tidy clusters, just like your own.
A little polish, too: the whole shared-map row is tappable now, not just the title.
1.2.2 Sep 7
Places from maps you follow now show up in List View too, marked with their link icon — tap one to take a look, get directions, or save your own copy. And when you do save a copy, it takes the followed pin's place — no more doubles; delete your copy and the original returns.
Plus a round of polish: tapping the map with a card open now simply dismisses it, search and cards no longer talk over each other, and the top bar holds perfectly still when cards slide up.
1.2.1 Sep 5
New: shared maps that stay current. "Share and keep updated" publishes the places you choose to a permanent link — edit a place, add one, remove one, and everyone with the link sees it. You decide exactly what goes out, place by place, and you can stop sharing anytime.
Got a link from a friend? Keep it updated on your own map — their places appear with a little link badge, refresh on their own, and stay clearly theirs. Tap one to look around, get directions, or save your own copy.
Also: sharing status at a glance on the map, smarter automatic map names, and plenty of polish throughout.
1.2.0 Sep 4
New: mark places as visited. Check off the spots you've been to — visited pins get a green check, and a new "Hide visited" filter leaves just your to-do list on the map.
Also in this update: uncategorized imports now land in "Other" instead of creating duplicates, Export lets you pick KML or GeoJSON, and the iPad editor panel shows reliably. Plus small fixes and polish.
1.1.2 Jun 22
- Import: places without a category now land in "Other" instead of creating a phantom duplicate. A one-time cleanup heals existing duplicates on next launch.
- Export: pick KML (works with Google Earth, AllTrails) or GeoJSON when you tap Export. KML is the new default.
- iPad landscape: the editor reliably appears as a side panel again, even when the map starts in a narrow split-view.
- Filter: hiding the "Other" category now also hides uncategorized pins.
- Small fixes and polish.
