dissolve is a sleep induction tool built around one idea: the hypnagogic state.
hypnagogia is the threshold between waking and sleep - where thoughts loosen, imagery drifts in, and the mind begins to let go. most sleep apps try to distract you into unconsciousness. dissolve tries to take you there directly.
the session lasts five minutes.
for the first two, you watch a field of slow, shifting light. the shapes breathe. the colors drift. your eyes grow heavy doing what they were going to do anyway.
when prompted, you put the phone down.
for the remaining three minutes, audio continues - gently distorting, slowing, dissolving - designed to follow you into the hypnagogic and go quiet once you're under.
that's it. no library of sounds to curate. no guided meditation to half-listen to. no badge for your seventh night in a row.
just a five-minute path to the edge of sleep.
