WHY SCIENCE BASED LEARNING WORKS

HOW THE SMART ENGINE WORKS
• Every new entry starts in Box 1, due today.
• Answer correctly, the entry moves up one box. Intervals stretch from one day to three days to one week to thirty days.
• Answer incorrectly, the entry falls back to Box 1.
• An entry is marked Learned only after two consecutive successful Box 5 reviews in each direction.

The ceiling grows when accuracy is strong and shrinks when words slip, so Box 1 never becomes a graveyard.
