Ecliptic helps you discover any solar or lunar eclipse, see exactly what will be visible from your location and prepare for the event. EXPLORE AND UNDERSTAND Browse a complete offline catalogue of solar and lunar eclipses from 1801 to 2200, built using NASA eclipse data. Search by date, location or eclipse type, explore upcoming and historic events and filter the archive to find eclipses visible from your current location or saved places. Detailed event pages bring together eclipse classifications, catalogue information, technical data, visibility resources and source references. You can also explore remarkable eclipses, historic records and repeating Saros families, while interactive learning experiences explain how the umbra and penumbra move between the Sun, Moon and Earth. SEE IT FROM YOUR LOCATION Use your current position or search for any city in the world. Ecliptic calculates local contact times, maximum eclipse, eclipse type, visibility, obscuration, magnitude, duration, phase information, Sun and Moon altitude, viewing direction and horizon visibility. Save several destinations and compare their timing, visibility, altitude and duration side by side. Where available, sky directions can be refined using JPL Horizons data. Detailed eclipse-path maps show coverage, local circumstances and suggested viewing locations. Tap anywhere on the map to check what may be visible there. Follow the eclipse through your local sky with the 360° Look Around view, augmented reality or an interactive 3D sky dome. A live Sun, Moon and Earth model lets you inspect the moving umbra and penumbra from every angle. PLAN, PREPARE AND FOLLOW IT LIVE Build a practical viewing plan for each saved destination. Check WeatherKit forecasts when the eclipse enters forecast range, find suggested viewing places, open Apple Maps directions and download offline event packs containing eclipse geometry and planning data. A packing checklist keeps track of what you need, while photography timelines, equipment notes and exposure rehearsal tools help you prepare your camera before the event. Ecliptic also includes dedicated safety guidance for solar and lunar eclipses. Review essential solar-viewing rules, check your eclipse glasses, find vetted supplier resources, learn how to filter cameras and telescopes correctly and follow illustrated instructions for building a pinhole viewer. On Eclipse Day, follow the event with a live phase display, obscuration progress, local contact countdowns, notifications and haptic cues. Live Activities bring the eclipse to your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, while Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets keep the next local contact close at hand. The Apple Watch app and complications show the current phase, countdown, viewing location and eclipse progress directly on your wrist. From choosing where to watch to following the final contact, Ecliptic gives you the tools to discover, understand, prepare for and safely experience an eclipse.
