RestBud - Parental Screen Time

Play time, breaks & schedules

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

These apps on Mon/Wed/Fri, those on Tue/Thu/Sat. Play 30 minutes, rest 5. And when time is up, your child hears your voice — not an alarm. A schedule-style screen-time manager for parents, installed on your child's iPhone or iPad. Built-in Screen Time is a blunt tool. RestBud adds four things it can't do: • Lock schedules — apps you add to a Lock are blocked all day by default; check weekdays and set one or more unlock windows (say, 7:00–12:00 plus 14:00–16:00 on Mon/Wed/Fri) and they open and close automatically. • Rest cycles — apps you add to a Rest must take a break (say, 5 minutes) after the play time you set (say, 30 minutes), then unlock automatically, on repeat. • Daily limits — put several apps on one list and give them a shared daily total (say, 1 hour across three games); once it's used up they all lock until tomorrow, and the parent screen shows roughly how much has been used today. • Your family's voice — when time is up, your child hears a recording of you, not a cold alarm. The blocked screen is a gentle sprout illustration that even tells your child what time they can play again — not a scary blocking page. • Set it once and it runs itself: rules are enforced by the system scheduler, even if the app is closed • A parental gate protects all settings • Deletion-protection guidance: paired with iOS "Don't Allow Deleting Apps", kids can't remove the limits • Completely free, no account, no ads, no data collection — everything stays on this device; a voluntary tip jar lives behind the parental gate RestBud is built on Apple's official Screen Time technology.

Smarter rest rules • A real pause counts as a break: if the apps are put down for at least the break length you set, the round restarts, so a morning session no longer locks the device the moment it is picked up in the afternoon. • Unlocking after a break is more reliable: even if the device slept through the wake-up, tapping OK on the blocked screen now releases it right away. • "Status & history" in parent settings shows how long each managed app was used today and where each rest rule is in its current round. New: daily limits • Put several apps on one list and set a shared daily total (say, 1 hour across three games). When it's used up they all lock until tomorrow, with a heads-up shortly before. • Parent settings show roughly how much has been used today, and "Reset today" starts the count over if needed. Unlock windows can now be split up • The same apps can open in the morning and again in the afternoon (say, 7:00–12:00 plus 14:00–16:00). Tap + next to "Unlock" to add a window. Overlapping windows are fine — they simply merge. • Every Lock and Rest rule now has its own switch, so you can let a group of apps through for a while without deleting the rule. • "Turn off management" is now a slider: slide right to pause everything, slide left to resume. No accidental taps. • The blocked screen now shows the next window's start time, and stops showing a morning time once today's windows are over. Break reminders now actually make a sound • Fixed reminders that stayed silent when a break started. A recorded family voice was stored where iOS would not play it, and it now plays. • With no recording, iOS now speaks "Break time. You can play again soon." in your system language. • Reminders are now time sensitive, so Focus and Do Not Disturb no longer mute them. • Voice prompts are capped at 12 seconds so iOS never drops them. Older recordings longer than that play their first 12 seconds — re-recording a shorter phrase is recommended. A clearer parent settings screen • Screen Time access and deletion protection are the top two rows; red until done, green once complete. • If Screen Time access was ever switched off, the settings screen keeps a record of how long management was interrupted. • You can export a text summary of the schedule.
