Great concept and a wonderful way to introduce Hindu stories to children growing up abroad. However, I was disappointed to find that only one story is free per account, after which the app requires a $70 annual subscription.This is quite different from the developer’s post saying “every single story completely free” and “No subscription. No paywall. No catch.”I completely understand charging for a quality app, but the pricing should be clearly and honestly communicated. I hope the developer will reconsider offering more free content to truly make this a community seva.

They’re enjoyable, and even adults may learn something from them. The stories are free as promised in the widely shared WhatsApp and Facebook campaigns. But the custom “make your own story” requires a subscription of $10 per month or $70 per year.A few suggestions for improvement: add more Indian-accented English voices to create the feeling of a grandparent telling stories; support more Indian languages, such as Tamil; and improve story tags or categories—for example, a “Bedtime” category for genuinely calming bedtime stories.

A skin for AI generated content!

The first thing the app shows is a “create your story” interface, which needs in-app purchase or subscriptions. It’s just an interface for ChatGPT or a similar AI product. If you ignore that and scroll down, you see pre-created stories, which I’m sure are AI generated themselves. Do I see the problem it’s trying to solve? Yes. Do I also think it’s got unclear UI, and REALLY misleading WhatsApp marketing campaigns? Yes. (They really really really claim the whole app is free, and play on the whole cultural angle. $70 is NOT free)Worth a shot, but you could do what it’s trying to do yourself using ChatGPT or Gemini as well.
