Eastodox
Prayer, fasting & the saints
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
The Hours, today's fast, the saints of the day and the appointed readings: an Orthodox prayer book that follows the Church calendar, on the Old or New Style.
Eastodox is an Orthodox Christian prayer book that knows what day it is.
Open it and the app shows the current office of the day, from the Midnight Office and Orthros through the Hours to Vespers and the evening prayers, together with the fast in force, the saints commemorated, and the Epistle and Gospel appointed for the day. Everything is computed from the Church calendar on either the Julian (Old Style) or the Revised Julian (New Style) reckoning, so it matches the practice of your parish.
TODAY
The office for the hour you are in, morning, evening and night prayers a tap away, the day's fast, its saints and its readings, and the tone of the week.
THE HOURS
The cycle of daily prayer in order: Midnight Office, Orthros, First, Third, Sixth and Ninth Hours, Vespers, Compline and evening prayers, each with its Greek name and its traditional time.
SAINTS OF THE DAY
Every commemoration with its icon and the saint's life, drawn from the Church's own sources and cited.
DAILY READINGS
The Epistle and Gospel for the day, laid out for reading aloud or in silence.
FASTING
What is permitted today (meat, dairy, fish, oil and wine) with the seasons and the strict days explained. Fasting practice varies between jurisdictions and is always subject to the guidance of your spiritual father.
MADE FOR PRAYER
A quiet, dark interface with adjustable text size, prayers you can save and return to on any device, and an offline library so the texts are there when the signal is not.
Eastodox is free. Sign in with your email, Google or Apple to keep your saved prayers and preferences across devices. No advertising, no tracking.
The texts are the Church's: the Horologion, the Menaion, the Synaxarion and the lectionary. Every source is listed at eastodox.com/legal/sources.
SUBSCRIPTION
Eastodox Monthly is an auto-renewable subscription that opens the prayer book in the app. It renews every month until you cancel it. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends if you begin with one. The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it in Settings → your name → Subscriptions. The price in your currency is shown before you confirm.
