It was thanks to WYPR that I got turned on to the Banner. I was impressed with the reporting and the cooperation between radio and print! Then I got hooked by headlines that would come up on various news outlets (or whatever they're called -- MSN, Apple, Google News). I didn't want to pay when I can read the Sun for free through my job as a teacher. Then I thought, "when's the last time you enjoyed reading the Sun? They're not even local anymore; not really." So, I subscribed to the Banner. I read it as much as I read anything online at this point. I would like to seem more neighborhood news, but they do.a pretty darn good job, especially with politics.
Really enjoy reading The Banner. Clever writing with an insightful approach. “Print” may be a thing of the past, its nice to see that News and reporting is not. I’ve been a longtime Sun reader, but their on line experience is wonky at best -especially on my mobile devices. So many ads in weird places, it’s hard to even just scroll through. I subscribe to both (for now. I may cancel The Sun)
This review is strictly about the app, not the news content. The app works fine and I would really like to give it a higher rating, but the font used is very difficult and unpleasant to read with its exceedingly thin lines. Increasing the font size isn’t the solution; though that helps a bit. Please re-think this font and choose one that is optimal (or at least much better) for screens and more accessible to a wider range of the reading public.
I’m now a former Baltimore Sun subscriber who had heard about the breaking news the Banner was making in collaboration with WYPR. Now, with the sad purchase of the Sun to an owner who apparently doesn’t read newspapers, among other things, I’m a Banner subscriber who looks forward to getting to know my community better. Long live local news reporting!
To see the quality of writing, editing, interviewing, investigation, data, unbias, fact & storytelling journalism of the Baltimore Banner, a news organization just recently discovered and recommended by a coworker…makes my heart keep beating for my city! Thank you for all that your hard working reporters do.
Loved reading the Free Baltimore Banner articles so much I decided that I wanted to read more than the 3 articles so I bought the subscription for 6 months and have not been disappointed! I especially like the information about what’s going on around town socially! Great news source.
