What’s New

Version 7.7

Today we're delighted to bring a BIG update to 1Password on your Mac. The first thing you may notice is the brand-new icon! It is tailored to be right at home in your Dock on macOS Big Sur, while also being cozy on previous versions of macOS. The vault doors have also been refreshed for a subtle, more modern look. And the item detail view has a thoughtfully considered new design.

That's not all — we have three big features to improve the way you use 1Password every day.

## New Safari Experience

1Password has a whole new experience in Safari — it will intelligently offer logins, credit cards, and identities right on the webpage. Furthermore, 1Password now deftly fills multi-page login forms and one-time codes. Using 1Password in Safari has never been better.

## Virtual Payment Cards from Privacy

For our US-based customers, we now offer integration with Privacy in Safari. Our friends at Privacy protect online payments similar to how 1Password protects your passwords. Instead of entering your real credit card information, Privacy creates a unique virtual payment card for each service.
When you create a Privacy card using 1Password in Safari, 1Password will offer to save that virtual card so it's ready the next time you need it.

## Unlock with Apple Watch

Today's 1Password update expands the convenience of unlocking your information while maintaining security. You can now unlock 1Password from your Apple Watch on any Mac laptop with Touch ID, and many newer models of Mac mini, iMac, and Mac Pro.

The best part is Unlock with Apple Watch works in concert with Touch ID, meaning you will get a prompt for both, and using either will unlock 1Password.

We are so excited to get all these fantastic new features into your hands! We hope you will enjoy using them as much we enjoyed making them for you.

1Password never prompts you for a review because we value your workflow too much to interrupt it. If you feel generous and have a couple of minutes, please leave a review. It makes a huge difference to us. Thank you in advance. :-)

If you need us you can find us at @1Password on Twitter. If you have questions or need support just pop on over to and we'll point you in the right direction.

Confusing to Set Up

I've been using 1Password on all of my computers since it first came out. It performs well and is a notch above other password software. However, I recently sent them a subscription fee and somehow they made me an "individual' user instead of a 'family user' which would give me more options. They supposedly change me over. I've spent the better part of this week trying to get it installed on a new notebook and to upgrade other computers. First my master password would not work but still worked on other computers. This prevented me from logging in to their website. I had to log in as my spouse just to download the new updated software. I'll have to backup and start all over again. They surely could have made things easier for us. They also do not have a voice channel so we can speak with support, the only company I know of that doesn't. They send canned email thinking it will solve your problem when at times it doesn't. I'll give them another year and if things do not change, I'm moving to new software like Norton. Regardless, it's still worth the price.

Loyal Customer

Every touch-point I've had with this product and the company has been a positive experience. I was first really sold on 1Password when they came out with Watchtower. That support for the Heartbleed problem was extremely well done and customer-focused. I'm a software engineer, (no affiliation) so understood the technical details of Heartbleed, and I thought 1Password's approach provided a great user-friendly experience to help non-technical folk protect themselves properly.
Once, I felt the need to get on the forum in response to a change in how the product handled multiple vaults. The response from the company was immediate, thoughtful, and convincing.
I've now recommended 1Password to multiple others over the years, including coworkers, friends and family. Have heard nothing but good feedback. My sister thanked me recently, saying "It changed my life."
After years as a customer, I just had my first, and very helpful, exchange with the Support team, regarding upgrading from an individual to a family subscription. Addressed my concerns and worked back-and-forth with me to update my account in a very short time, all early on a Sunday morning!
As I said at the beginning, every touch-point has been nothing but positive.

I have been a 1Password user for a long time and big-time fan. My version 6.8x was working just fine when the new version 7 came out. "Why pay an annual subscription" for what is not broken? Man, was I PO's at AigleBits! I use/like both Firefox and Safari but with PW 7, I was stuck without use of the most current version of Safari, now and into the future. That (to me) is unacceptable. I blasted both AppStore and AgileBits for what I saw as leaving loyal users in a conondrum. The new Safari (for my use) is far superior compared to the previous versions, so I gave in for a trial of 1 Password 7 and way before the trial ended, I purchased the annual subscription. I have not had any 'buyers remorse' since. Wow, I was wrong in my previous thoughts and now realize the cost of business being what it is, the annual fee for 1 Password 7.x more than pays for itself in little lost work time, frustration, or repetitious keystrokes. I fully accept the fact that I initially made a bad decision based on my feelings, rather than making a good decision based on reason/fact. Fact is/IMO: 1 Password 7 is great and their Customer Service is very much on-the-ball. I was wrong and I admit it.

Thanks for the feedback. While we feel membership is going to provide the best experience for the vast majority of customers, you can still purchase a one-off license anytime from our website. A subscription is not mandatory. Here are all your options to upgrade: If you have any questions and would like to discuss further, please get in touch with us at Thanks! Mathieu, 1Password
