the cast answers.
2Reply is a rehearsal partner for actors. Load a fully-voiced recording of a
play together with its timed script, choose the character you are rehearsing,
and that character's lines go silent. You speak them aloud. The rest of the
cast keeps answering exactly on cue, so the whole scene runs at performance
tempo instead of stopping every time it is your turn.
THE SCRIPT AS A CONVERSATION
The play is laid out like a chat, scrolling in time with the audio. The line
being spoken is highlighted and stays in view; each bubble carries a gauge
that fills as its line plays, so you can see your cue approaching. Tap any
line to jump straight to it. Stage directions and entrances sit inline where
they belong.
REHEARSAL MUTE
Your character's lines are muted at the exact millisecond they begin and
unmuted when they end — including back-to-back exchanges, which merge into one
continuous silence instead of flickering. A "speak now" banner tells you the
floor is yours. Rehearse two characters at once if you are covering both. The
mute keeps working with the app in the background and the screen locked, so
you can rehearse on the move with the play running from the Lock Screen.
TWO DRILLS, FOUR WAYS TO WORK
Hide your own lines to test memorization: they collapse to a name tag and a
gauge whose width is the length of the line, so you still know how much to
say. Hide everyone else's to train on listening for your cue rather than
reading ahead. Turn both off to read along, or both on for an off-book run.
BUILT FOR REHEARSAL, NOT FOR BROWSING
Previous and next jump by scene rather than by a fixed number of seconds.
Your position in every play is remembered, and the app reopens where you
stopped. Recordings and scripts are copied into the app, so the originals are
never touched.
2Reply collects nothing, shows no ads, and makes no network connections of any
kind. It needs no account.
WHAT YOU NEED
A recording of the play as an .m4b file and its timed script as a play.json
file, added with the import button or shared to 2Reply from Files. The app
does not record audio and does not generate the recordings.
