Wikipedia has been answering our big and small questions since its introduction in 2001. What if you only speak Hawaiian? Mai hopohopo! Hauʻoli! (Don’t worry! Be happy!) With information in nearly 300 Wikipedia-supported languages, you’ll be able to find facts in the lingo you like.

  • Great app; just added tabs!

    Sp4z8urgers

I’ve been using this for like 5-6 years and it’s been a great app for a while but what made me come write a review is the addition of tabs. This brings the Wikipedia app closer to the functionality of the average web browser, massively improving usability with respect to competing platforms on the device. Just had to come say this was a huge homerun.

  • Latest update knocks off a star

For some reason, landscape suddenly misformats articles into too wide a body of text, rendering scrolling an awkward exercise in frustration as the article skates side-to-side. Oddly, displaying teh side menu fixes this.Otherwise, content can’t be beat, and portrait mode appears to not have this bug, menu or not.

  • Great Website, Great App.

    Global1250

Wikipedia has always been one of my favorite websites, and its transition into an app was seamless. In fact, I might say that the app is better, with a fluid and simple UI, easily accessible information, and all of the positive features of the website. All in all, amazing!

  • Essential

I can’t think of another app I truly consider essential. The Wikipedia Foundation and the app are gifts to humanity. If you can ever support it at all, even with one tiny donation, please do. I’ve learned from it daily for years. Thanks to the developers for the new tabs feature… I love it!

  • Tabs: Great idea, subpar execution

    everynicknameistaken134

Echoing others that tabs are a long-awaited and important feature for any app like this. However, I dislike that each time I open a wp link in a browser it silently opens a new tab. And I especially dislike that once you've accidentally opened hundreds of tabs, you have to manually close each one of them since there's no "close all" button. I was unaware of tabs being added until I got a notification that I'd opened 500, and in 5 minutes of spamming the tab close button I'm not even halfway done closing them all.

  • Developer must be on crack

This app is nutty. It's been carefully designed to make the information you're most likely to need the hardest to access. Wikipedia pages have these quick facts that are easily visible and present the basic information you're likely to want. But this app hides that information so you have to click to unfold it. The information labeled "quick facts" is in fact the slowest information to find. Wikipedia page writers go through all this effort to organize the information so it's quick and easy to find and in one fell swoop this app destroys all that work. I can't imagine why anyone would do this except to be deliberately annoying.
