I put 1 star and my message disappeared so I put 5 stars so people can read DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP…This company is so unprofessional. I’ve been using it for the past six years. I would say the first five years have been great until they started offering their own cellular services. I think they want people to purchase and that’s why I’ve been having so many issues for the past year or so. When I first started using the app the only thing I really experienced was dropped calls. I barely use the app now so when I do use it, which is not often on making outbound calls, it could be every other day every two days or so maybe 30 minutes or less on the phone calls but every month around the same time, they disable my outbound calling and they’ll send me a text saying that I’ve exceeded the outbound calling and when I reach out to them to find out why what I did, it takes them 5 days to respond or more right now its going on a week. My outbound calling is still disabled. When they do finally respond they send a generic response saying that you’ve exceeded the outbound calling limits or misuse or abuse, and I rarely use app. I’ve used this app for hours in the first few years so I don’t know what’s different now versus back then. My services get disabled every month around the same time and then when I reach out to them it takes Them forever to respond, and they have to manually refresh my app so I can use it. I would not recommend this app to anyone

So this app has worked perfect for me while I’m living in Japan. I get calls from the states I can text everything goes through quickly I’m not sure why everyone else is complaining about lag I don’t experience any of it. I do however experience a very very annoying treat and I’m not sure if Talkatone is responsible for it or not. But I’m gonna blame them anyway because it is their app. Whenever I am texting someone my phone opens the App Store. Even if I close it it really opens it and it takes me to some dating site or something weird sometimes it says I’m in the wrong App Store. Which I assume means that I’m trying to get the American app Stor when I’m really in Japan not sure what that’s all about but even if I close out talk atone and reopen it and go back to texting it’s only a matter of seconds before the App Store starts opening up. And then it’s frustration time because you have to close both applications the App Store and Talkatone and then re-launch Talkatone to continue were you were texting only for a few minutes later to start the process all over again. Talk atone if you are listening to this review I love you guys I can even send you video of what I’m experiencing but something needs to be done because this is crap. Otherwise I am extremely happy I’ve even thought about buying the package to disable ads and my only worry is that it would not fix the App Store opening up.

My mobile phone stopped working and I needed a texting solution. After reviewing and trying several options, I couldn’t find an app that was free unless you were contacting someone else who was also a subscriber to the same app. Then I stumbled across Talkatone! The free version allows you to dial and speak to anyone on any number whether the subscribe to Talkatone or not. I loved it so much I upgraded it! Now for only $1.99 + $3.99 per month I have no ads (which were not intrusive at all anyway) for the $1.99 and a stable number, voice mail transcription, call forwarding and other great features. That’s less than $6.00 per month for a full-featured VOIP service with crystal clear calls, MMS texting, address book, unlimited domestic calling, voice mail and customizable options like ringtones etc. I just cannot stop being impressed. Even with the free version you get unlimited domestic calls and MMS. It puts Skype and so many other apps to shame. Download it and give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.
Very Misleading NOT Unlimited Free

I’ve had this app for several years. Tonight after sending out maybe 6 texts, I get a notification from them saying that I am sending out too many texts and am now forbidden from sending, presumably for good. It says to refer to the “Fair Use” rules but I don’t see any such thing in the terms of use. Regardless; they have no right advertising this as UNLIMITED TEXTS AND TALK when they pull this kind of crap! I see here other people complaining about this same problem and you reply that unlimited only applies to texts or calling to other Talkatone users. I found this in your terms and that’s not how it reads to me. Seems like you just want to force people to upgrade. Not me, I’ve a dozen other free text/calling apps and several google voice numbers as well as my cell carrier Straight from your Terms of Service: “The Talkatone unlimited free texting app will let you message with most U.S. phone numbers. You won’t have to convince your friends and family to download a new app or buy the same phone as you, like with WhatsApp or iMessage. Text who you want for free. Unlimited free texting app. The free texting app will let you message with most U.S. phone numbers. You won’t have to convince your friends and family to download a new app or buy the same phone as you, like with WhatsApp or iMessage . Text who you want for free.”
