Launch day: first thoughts I jumped out of bed when I read the email headline. Tried it out. Pretty impressive for the first taste. Ideally, you could listen to the vocals for a song and it would sound like the acapella. Not here. Djay Pro AI is good enough to lift sounds out of tracks to throw on other tracks, or to create a new beat for a vocal out of samples and loops, but not to listen in isolation, nor to record and export to another app, yet. AI tends to improve with time and processing power. I have tried djay Pro AI on a device with an A10X chip, and one with an A12 with a dedicated ML accelerator. The sound quality is about the same, and it is likely held back by Algoriddim needing to program for the least powerful hardware, as well as this type of AI being new to DJ apps. We should hear some pretty interesting mixes from here, but they won’t sound good enough to sell for a while. Very exciting. Congrats to Algoriddim on being the first, and thank you for continuing to push the industry forward and make DJing more accessible. Now Algoriddim, make it better. Oh, and Serato, if you’re reading this, get on it! This trick is better to have than not to have, even in its current state. Vs. STEMS? Well the problem with STEMS format is that I do not own, nor can I borrow and stream, any music in STEMS format, nor do djay or Serato support it. Djay Pro AI works with your existing library. It’s like having all your music converted to a poorly mastered STEMS format without having to do anything. STEMS is better IF you have music in that format AND a player which supports it (Traktor, DJ Player), but no one does.
