Description
The South Carolina 511 mobile application provides real-time access to traffic and traveler information supplied by the South Carolina Department of Transportation (South Carolina DOT). Maps depict current traffic conditions, as well as incident and construction events that can impact traffic on all Interstate, U.S., and State Routes. DMS, HAR, alert, and weather information is also available. The map indicates the location of roadside cameras, which allow users to view current traffic conditions. As users move through the highway network, the app can keep track of their location on the map. South Carolina DOT's Twitter feeds are also accessible and provide information impacting traffic across the state's regions.

What happened
On my old iPhone I used to get text messages about road incidents this was invaluable as I travel to Charleston all the time. New iPhone no longer gets text about road incidents and I’m not able to choose from the app the areas of I26 as my favorites. Help
Developer Response ,
Thank you for your 4-star review, GGgirl24! Developers fixed an issue on Jun 25, 2020, that should allow you to receive text alerts again. To choose favorites from areas surrounding I-26, select the hamburger button (three lines) at the top left of the screen. In the menu that appears, select Favorites, then select the “+” sign to the right of My Locations. Choose “Add from Map” and type “I-26 Charleston” in the search bar. Select the point of interest at the bottom of the screen, then select “Save”. To save additional areas, enter specific intersections in the search bar. You can also save I-26 cameras as favorites from the same Favorites menu. If you need more assistance, please email us at SC511AppFeedback@iteris.com. Thanks for using the new SC 511. Safe travels.
Ran out of gas with 2 small children in vehicle
I had been going through a divorce. Money has been tight. I tried to make it to the next exit that a gas station was available. Unfortunately, I miss judged and ran out of gas before the exit. Firstly, I was highly embarrassed and so scared.
I put my head down on the steering wheel and praying in my head. Only, to look up and see the sc dot truck in my rear view mirror. He gave me a gallon of gas and waited until my truck started.
I had no idea that they even existed for road side assistance and free.. I just wanted to thank the DOT for making this available and I am so thankful!!

Thank you for your feedback and five-star rating, MariGr7283! The SCDOT State Highway Emergency Program (SHEP) assists motorists whose vehicles are experiencing mechanical problems and provides support and assistance to emergency response teams during incidents. SHEP assistance can be reached by dialing *HP (*47), with patrols in Charleston, Columbia, Florence, Myrtle Beach, Rock Hill, and Greenville/Spartanburg. We will pass your feedback along to SCDOT staff. If you have additional details or comments about the assistance, you can submit them on the web via the SHEP survey form at https://www.scdot.org/scdotwebforms/shep.aspx. For travel conditions, dial 511 anytime from anywhere in South Carolina to hear up-to-date travel information, or visit the SC 511 website at https://www.511sc.org. Safe travels.
