But honestly, for something trying to emulate that old school internet blogpost style it works in its favor. Everything feels so small and interconnected. When I get 3 responses my eyes light up because it feels like a LOT. The feed moves slow enough that I can really sit down and consume whats in front of me. And the nature of “recommendations” and “asks” instead of basic posts encourages participation. I’ve been having a blast.

I sincerely love this app and the community on it, but with each update it seems to just get slower and slower. Things take too long to load after pressing buttons, so I end up avoiding certain features like lists or bookmarks. I frequently have to tap things multiple times for them to occur. I understand this app is small and does not have the same resources as others to deploy fixes and improvements, but I strongly suggest the creators prioritize functionality and smoothness over any other modifications right now as it is becoming off-putting even as someone who cares about the app. I have invited users who unfortunately did not stick around because the app was clunky and annoying to use.
Developer Response We've made some big strides with app stability / speed since January! So sorry about the jankiness along the way, but it's our #1 goal right now to get the app feeling snappy.

I really disliked the app's layout, it's poorly designed, difficult to understand, and not user-friendly at all. I was also automatically following around 80 people (?), and the constant spam emails were so annoying too. Finally, trying to delete my account was nearly impossible. I looked everywhere, checked on Google, and when I tried to log in on the web, it didn't even recognize my password or email, it was a whole ordeal. I finally found a post from 2025 where someone was asking how to delete their profile (poor person still has their account up, it seems they never figured it out). When I followed the link in the reply comment, the ‘Delete account' button was hidden in the tiniest neon blue text at the very bottom. Insane.

I absolutely love the fact that this app is focused more on casual blog style posts rather than highly curated photo feeds. When I shout my thoughts into the void, people actually respond! I will say that the app is veryyy slow and several features don’t work or glitch out, but I’m hoping the devs will continue to fix them as the app gains more popularity. Overall a great time, highly recommend for people who enjoy media.

what's new:
weekly rec leaderboards. see what people are into right now
and where you stack up.
new to pi? the welcome flow got a glow-up: a quick, friendly intro to how it works before you jump in.
profiles load faster now, taste match and all.
smoother home feed- swipe through photos right on a
rec, plus a steadier scroll and a cleaner daily ask card.
reordering photos when you post is easier now, and there are little nudges to share a rec or turn on notifications.
3.0.24 Jun 20
what's new:
music recs play right in the feed now. tap the play button on a song
and you'll hear a 30-second preview without getting kicked out to spotify
or apple music.
we fixed the glitchy home feed (!)
there's more to find on your home feed too. little "worlds" picked for
your taste, trending polls, and an easy way to find people you already
know (plus invite the ones who aren't on pi yet).
new people who share your taste get a "new here" tag in your for you feed
so they're easy to spot and follow.
articles look right now. links and formatting actually show up.
and the usual housekeeping: your feed refreshes when you come back to it,
the tab bar feels smoother, and we squashed a pile of little bugs.
3.0.23 Jun 16
new stuff:
events are way better. they show up as real cards right in your feed,
you can rsvp without leaving, and if you're making one you can just paste
a link and it'll fill in the date, place and flyer for you.
home got a big overhaul. loads fast and mixes in little
carousels (games, today's ask, your scenes, chats, a nearby map) plus some
new finds like "on this day" and stuff rising in scenes you're in. also
fixed that annoying thing where the feed would get stuck loading or show
up blank.
you can hide like counts now. either hide them everywhere, or just on your
own posts so nobody sees yours.
recs about a movie, album, place or show now tap through to a little page
for that thing, so you can see who else rec'd it.
joy friday is a stories rail now, and your own shows up in it too.
articles have comments.
want to see more at once? there's a smaller-feed-images option in settings.
plus a bunch of fixes: swipe-back is less finicky, profiles stopped
randomly going blank, sharing a rec in a chat now sends the real rec, and
you can drag to reorder your pinned chats.
3.0.22 Jun 13
what's new
- home got a big revamp. it's now a feed that loads fast and
shows more content from scenes/friends, with little carousels mixed in (top recs, rising,
games, asks, scenes, chats and more). fixed the bug where two carousels
would stack on top of each other, and you'll see fresh stuff instead of
the same things twice.
- joy friday is now a tappable stories rail, with a live activity so you
can follow along.
- liking is more fun. double tap to drop a star, with a little haptic + toast.
- games: new share links so you can send your scores, game leaderboards
and standings, plus piffy surfers, whereabouts, and name that tune.
- your profile got pinned recs (pin up to 8 of your favorites and drag to
reorder them) and a cleaner categories grid.
- scene editors get proper editor tools with tabs for queue, requests,
daily asks, members and more — and you can jump straight to the asks tab.
- inbox: drag to reorder your pinned conversations.
- comment previews no longer show up blank when someone just replies with
a gif or photo.
- swipe-back is way more forgiving now, especially on long scrolling pages.
- a bunch of speed and smoothness improvements across the feed, plus the
usual bug fixes.
3.0.21 Jun 10

3.0.18 Jun 7
- improvements to all the new games
- profiles leveled up with better pinned recs and category browsing.

over the comments instead of behind them)
3.0.17 Jun 6

- Jump into Flappy Piffy, Name That Tune, and Guess Who Rec'd — quick games built right into the app
- Name That Tune is scored from your friends' music recs, with a now-playing soundtrack as you play
- New community leaderboards and a high-scores rail on your profile
A new way to explore recs
- Pull any rec into an infinite, collage of related recs
- Tap to focus, drag to wander, explore your taste graph visually
Asks, all day

- Redesigned ask cards with replies, plus sort responses by New, Old, or Top
Taste Match
- Share your match as a "taste receipt" card
- Break down what you and someone have in common, by category
Scenes & moderation
- New Manage hub for editors: review queue, daily-ask management, and live presence
- Clearer report flow with a reason picker
Inbox & chat
- Faster inbox with a cleaner unread rail and better read receipts
- Revamped mute & notification controls and a refreshed in-app banner
Plus
- Events browsing and "events near you"
- Alternate app icons
- Lots of polish and bug fixes
3.0.16 Jun 4
What's New
Scenes — new tools for editors & mods
- Manage hub for your scenes. Scene editors get a dedicated full-screen hub with tabs for the review Queue, join Requests, Members, Removed posts, and a Mod Log. A "Manage scene" card now sits at the top of scenes you moderate, badged with
how many items need your attention.
- Faster review queue. Review cards now show the post's image and source link so you can judge without opening it, plus a progress bar (reviewed vs. remaining), haptic feedback, and clearer Keep / Skip / Remove buttons.
- Approve or deny join requests and promote members to admin right from the hub.
- Undo removals. Removed posts can be restored to a scene.
Daily Asks
- Run daily asks for your scene. Editors can create, post now, or schedule asks — one-time or recurring weekly (pick a day and time) — and delete them anytime.
- Answer the latest ask in one tap. Scenes now show a dismissable banner prompting you to respond to the current daily ask.
Chat & conversations
- Scene chat rail. Quickly jump between your scene channels and recent conversations — the rail now shows even if you don't have any DMs yet.
- Smarter notification controls. A single, unified setting per conversation, with timed mutes (mute for an hour, a day, etc.) and the option to suppress @everyone in scene channels.
- Unread & mention counts for scene chats, so you can see at a glance where you've been mentioned.
- Leave scene channels when you no longer want them.
- Safer DMs. You can no longer accidentally leave a 1-on-1 chat, and you'll get a heads-up before leaving as the last member of a group.
- Polish: cleaner @username labels on message runs, smoother swipe-back navigation, and a tidier "mark all read" prompt.
Create & share
- Smarter post suggestions. Composing a post now classifies and searches what you're adding more accurately, with improved ranking of suggestions.
- Add a post to scenes directly, and add scene tags from a post's detail view.
Explore & profile
- My Scenes section in Explore, plus recommended scenes tailored to you.
- "At a glance" category rail on profiles — a snap-scrolling row of someone's top categories with preview tiles; tap to open the full category feed.
Personalization & onboarding
- Choose your app icon. A new picker in Settings with 10 alternate icons.
- Guided walkthroughs for the Conversations tab and for sharing into the app via the share sheet.
Fixes
- Notifications and in-app banners (including offline and rich banners) got a presentation overhaul for a more polished look.
- Custom themes now render the correct body font in text content.
