I get why they have to charge, but this wasn’t the way to do it. It’s been free since I’ve downloaded it months ago. And if you think 5 free uses a day is good, you’re wrong. As much as this app works great at succeeding in implementing the changes you request, it takes so much trail and error to get an output that is what you want. And sometimes, you never get what you want, and have to make other adjustments with other editing tools then bring it back in in hopes it finally understands you.Lot alone the giant watermark on the images now.And unless I missed it, I used this app probably at least weekly. I would go through periods of days of constant use and then a few days break, then back at in. But I know I was just using it recently and I don’t recall knowing about this change until 1 day I went to try to get a photo extended, and after 5 attempts of failed extensions, it had the pop up to join the club. This is not the way to tell people that there “isn’t a paywall” paywall.Update: pay attention to all the reviews raving about it. It’s prior to the paywall and usually rave about the “no cost” aspect. This was a deceitful switch for ratings by waiting until it had a good rate standing while it developed and created a following, and then do this
Hey - thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review - and we’re so sorry to hear the daily free users are not enough for the type of creative work you’re doing with BEAM. We’re constantly trying to improve - so we hope that with every release, the 5 free uses will get better and be enough to get the exports you want. But we’re listening ~ and we will let the team know for some users it’s not enough. If you have any particular tools you’ve had trouble with, please email us at BEAM@piccollage.com and we’ll see what we can do! Ultimately, AI tools cost a lot of money to run and we couldn’t afford to keep BEAM completely free forever :‘) we hope we can reach a compromise where everyone who needs to gets to use BEAM’s tools! Joe, Team BEAM x
I am a user who purchased the lifetime package of the Beam app Previously, I upgraded to the lifetime version with a one-time payment, which allowed me to use all features without any limitations. However, after updating to the latest version, I was surprised to find that my account had lost lifetime access, and all premium features now require me to subscribe again or pay an additional fee.Beam is a great app, but losing lifetime benefits after an update is a serious issue that affects user trust. I hope the developers will respond soon, provide an explanation, and restore the benefits for customers who purchased the lifetime package like myself.
This app truly deserves more recognition for its simplicity, ease of use, and powerful functionality. It offers the best background and object remover I’ve ever used—fast, precise, and incredibly accurate. What makes it even better is that it’s completely free, with minimal to no ads, making it a true treasure in a crowded market. The developers have done a fantastic job, and I sincerely hope they gain the recognition and revenue they deserve. In my opinion, this app is perfect, and I hope more people discover this hidden gem.
I have been recommending this app to pretty much everyone but won’t be able to continue doing so with the update to paid subscriptions. I completely understand why they did this but, for me, paying for ai tools is unnecessary as I can always find an alternative free method (either manually or using another ai service). I do not use any apps with paid subscriptions and will unfortunately have to stop using beam. Thanks for the free stuff while it lasted.Update: now that I think about it, kind of a slimy way to get highly rated reviews on the App Store while it’s free. Lame.
I had been raving about this app and recommending it to EVERYONE I know and then one day it was no longer free and seems to have a watermark on the picture. Not cool! I understand the reason for the charging but to only allow 5 edits a day is not even worth my time to “log in” since I have to answer the same questions every time regarding my photography skills. I’m very disappointed that this changed so drastically and still highlights the reviews that stress the free aspect of the app. I guess I’ll be looking for another editor with better transparency.
So I’ve been using this app to extend photos sometimes it takes a few tries to get one I like but that’s okay. What my issue is that once you save an extended photo is significantly drops quality. Also if save an HD version the app changes the photo a bit by smoothing out the whole image and it just doesn’t come out good. If I could just extend the image and KEEP THE SAME QUALITY, this app would be perfect.
