I like having more than just the basic remote controls in one app. The keyboard and touchpad are useful for navigating and searching, and I can also cast photos and videos from my phone. It’s convenient when I want to control the TV without keeping track of another remote.

$520 a year for a buggy app

The app continuously disconnecting from my TV isn’t even my biggest complaint. It’s the company’s blatant scam of charging their customers $10 A WEEK for a remote control app ($520 a year). They make sure to have the default payment at $10 a week - hoping that the customer doesn’t cancel their 3 day free trial - allowing them to charge their credit card $10 EACH week. This is not a legitimate app - it is a scam company using a cheaply made disguise so they can trick people into paying them $10 a week for a “service” that doesn’t even work. Shame on the people behind this - you know what you are doing. And shame on Apple for featuring these weekly subscription models that are designed to steal money away from customers (mostly elderly people) who do not have the skills to navigate their phone and cancel subscriptions.

Anyway, I lost the tiny remote and figured, oh hey, here’s a crummy remote app that’ll help me. I got most of the way through to connecting when it tells me to “start your free trial.” Free trial for what, turning on my TV and adjusting the volume? This might sound crazy to hear in 2026, but that kind of basic fundamental thing used to be, oh I don’t know, included with the purchase of your TV. Anyway, I’m not giving Vizio more money. They make enough off shoving ads in our faces while we try to relax in our living spaces. I think you know where I’d tell you to shove the remote if only I could find the thing.

I don’t have a remote yet in order to activate the use of my phone. I have to have the remote to select allow. Great reviews for people who already have their remote and just want the convenience of using their phone, but our remote is lost and I would like to use my phone to control the television. Have a yearly subscription, but a waste of my money sad.
